Customizable Devices Meet MIL-STD-981 Class S Standard Requirements with a Special Winding Structure and Construction Method.
A new line of space-grade, low-profile planar transformers for power conversion applications was unveiled today by Vishay Intertechnology.
Vishay Custom Magnetics planar transformers SGTPL-2516 series satisfy MIL-STD-981 class S criteria while being more affordable, smaller, and denser than conventional planar transformers.
These new planar transformers devices will be utilized in switch-mode power supplies, DC/DC, and AC/DC converters, and are available with through-hole terminations and in numerous package sizes.
The Vishay Planar Transformers are Built:
- To withstand the most extreme conditions.
- They are qualified by MIL-STD-981 and come in a tough design with molded windings and +130 °C high-temperature operation.
- Devices in the SGTPL-2516 planar transformers series have a frequency range of 80 kHz to 300 kHz.
- A high dielectric withstand voltage of 1500 VAC, 150 W of power, and 0.5 µH of leakage inductance.
Because of their special winding structure and construction method, the transformers have a higher copper fill factor than conventional planar devices, which allows for a lower package size as well as increased efficiency and power density.
The winding technology of the SGTPL-2516 series makes it simple and free of upfront tooling costs to fulfil design-specific criteria for operating voltage, inductance, power, and package height and dimension.
The devices come with P-level screening for design validation testing in addition to S-level MIL-STD-981 A and B group screening, as well as other custom screening possibilities.
Availability
With lead times of eight weeks for devices with P-level screening and 21 weeks for devices with S-level screening, samples and manufacturing quantities of the new transformers are already available.
