VIAVI at MWC 2025 to Showcase Network Testing, Optimization Future

VIAVI Solutions declared that from March 3–6, 2025, it will showcase its most recent network optimization technology at MWC Barcelona. VIAVI Solutions will demonstrate a broad range of technologies, including its 6G Forward initiatives, AI-powered digital twins for network optimization, resilient positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT), non-terrestrial network (NTN) validation, AIOps to empower network operators and their ecosystems to drive the transition from Telco to-Techco, and interoperability in open and disparate networks. VIAVI Solutions will have several technological displays on exhibit at its location in Hall 5 at Stand #5A18.

6G and Extended Reality:

VIAVI Solutions will highlight its research and innovations in 6G, including:

  • Energy-efficient neuromorphic receivers that replace several signal-processing blocks – channel estimation, equalization, and symbol de-mapping – with a single neural network, optimized for AI-based modulations
  • An innovative goal-oriented and semantic communication framework with advanced multiple access for metaverse avatars, showcasing advancements in wireless Extended Reality (XR)
  • 6G Position-Enhanced AI/ML-based beam management for FR3 centimeter, including an advanced neural network-based algorithm efficiently fusing communication measurements with sensing information from a real environment
  • A joint communications and sensing (JCAS) testing solution, with in-house real-time ray tracing technology to emulate communications and sensing channels in a digital twin of the electromagnetic environment
  • A digital twin of a real campus environment, leveraging VIAVI’s real-time ray tracing technology for RF emulation

5G and Open RAN – From the Lab to the Field:

VIAVI Solutions facilitates the validation of more complex capabilities in the lab, facilitates effective field commissioning, and trains RAN Intelligent Controllers (RIC), Service Management and Orchestration frameworks (SMO), and associated applications as 5G and Open RAN continue to be implemented globally.

Demonstrations will include:

  • M-MIMO / MU-MIMO – VIAVI Solutions will demonstrate an O-RU testbed for massive MIMO, multi-user MIMO and beamforming, including user equipment (UE) emulation extending up to 16 layers with multiple UEs
  • O-RAN – VIAVI Solutions and partners will demonstrate an end-to-end conformance, performance, interoperability and cybersecurity multi-vendor O-RAN testbed, incorporating emulated and real user equipment (UEs)
  • Rethinking field deployment – VIAVI Solutions team of experts will highlight solutions ranging from resilient timing, advanced EMF and PIM measurements to cloud integration

Critical Communications:

Network operators may now attain the ubiquitous coverage required for vital communications thanks to the transition of NTN networks from standardization to commercialization.

Furthermore, PNT services that are essential to the functioning of critical infrastructure need to be guaranteed because they are becoming more and more vulnerable to spoofing and jamming. VIAVI Solutions will showcase its robust PNT solutions and NTN digital twin testbed.

Governments throughout the world have issued directions for industry and research institutes to take proactive measures to combat the threat of public-key encryption being broken by large-scale quantum computing.

VIAVI Solutions will showcase their TeraVM Security Test, which provides industry-first support for PQC algorithms required by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and performance testing capabilities for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) system deployments.

Furthermore, the MAP-300 Multiple Application Platform for testing and optimizing quantum key distribution (QKD) will be presented.

Intelligent Twins:

Better large-scale digital twin network simulations are made possible by applying AI and machine-learning techniques to RF propagation. These simulations will be essential in the transition to 6G networks and allow the networks to dynamically adjust to changing situations and settings.

Digital twins enable operators to test, optimize, and innovate in a controlled setting without jeopardizing their live network as networks get increasingly complex.

VIAVI Solutions will showcase its AI-based digital twin demonstration, which includes cloud-based automation platforms, AI-RAN scenario generation, near real-time ray tracing, and AIOps.

Telco to Techco:

The worldwide telecommunications sector is undergoing rapid change due to the advancement of digital technologies and shifting consumer needs. In order to support new applications like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, faster networks and reduced latencies are needed.

The evolution of Telcos into future-ready Techcos—which are distinguished by end-to-end visibility, automation, efficiency, and dependability—is aided by new technology.

Data-driven automation, AI-assisted RAN optimization, AIOps, LaaS/TaaS, and optical transceiver testing for network equipment operating at 800G and 1.6T are just a few of the solutions VIAVI will showcase that facilitate this shift.

The Dark NOC:

Automating network oversight and eliminating human-caused delays is crucial in today’s multi-vendor, multi-domain networks that operate increasingly data-intensive applications.

VIAVI Solutions will demonstrate their NITRO AIOps system, which provides autonomous issue resolution, anomaly detection, integrated inventory management, end-to-end visibility, and root cause analysis.

During MWC Barcelona, VIAVI Solutions will webcast live Open RAN remote testing demonstrations from its VIAVI Automated Lab-as-a-Service (VALOR) Lab in Chandler, AZ, from March 3–5 from 3–4 PM CET at their booth. The Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund (PWSCIF) of the National Telecommunications and Infrastructure Administration (NTIA) in the United States provides funding for VALOR.

Leadership CommentsVIAVI at MWC Barcelona Telco to Techco, 5G, Open RAN, 6G the volt post

“The past year has seen tremendous change, with 6G taking a significant leap forward in the lab, high-speed satellite networks becoming a reality, and AI increasingly being leveraged to enhance tools, simulations and operations. At the same time, the industry needs to be vigilant about the growing attack surface including open interfaces, PNT and even quantum computing,” said Sameh Yamany, Chief Technology Officer, VIAVI. “In this dynamic landscape, network testing and optimization is becoming ever more critical and VIAVI is proud to support our partners in the delivery of these advances.”
