The major Tier 1 automotive supplier in China, United Automotive Electronic Systems Co., Ltd. (UAES), and ROHM have just extended their long-term supply agreement for SiC power devices.
UAES Reliability on ROHM SiC power devices
Since 2015, ROHM and UAES have been working together and conducting in-depth technical discussions about SiC power device applications in automotive settings. In 2020, the SiC Joint Research Institute was established at the UAES headquarters in Shanghai, China, further strengthening the collaboration.
Furthermore, in 2021, UAES gave ROHM’s cutting-edge SiC power devices and peripheral components a high rating; as a result, ROHM was chosen as a preferred supplier.
Due to the strong, long-standing technical collaboration, several automotive products—like inverters for electric vehicles and onboard chargers—have been produced and used with ROHM SiCs. SiC power devices are essential for increasing a range of systems’ performance and efficiency while also lowering battery size and cruising range.
With the beginning of client deliveries of SiC-based inverter modules in November 2023, this long-term supply agreement guarantees UAES adequate access to SiC power devices to fulfill the increasing demand.
In the future, the two businesses will intensify their cooperation, hastening the creation of state-of-the-art SiC power solutions for electric vehicles while also advancing technological innovation in the automotive industry.
Guo Xiaolu, Deputy General Manager, United Automotive Electronic Systems Co., Ltd.
