VIAVI Solutions has launched its next-generation TestCenter D2 1.6T Appliance, built to help cloud providers, hyperscalers, “neoclouds,” and network equipment makers accelerate the rollout of 1.6T Ethernet networks. The D2 is the newest addition to VIAVI’s extensive lineup of advanced L0–L7 PHY validation, AI fabric, and network test solutions.

The industry is gearing up for a major leap from 800G to 1.6T Ethernet deployments, especially as AI backend infrastructure demands skyrocket this year. Cloud providers are scaling up and diversifying their AI clusters, and high-speed Ethernet is emerging as the fabric of choice offering scalability, multi-vendor interoperability, and rapid innovation that outpaces proprietary fabrics.
Designed specifically for these next-generation environments, the TestCenter D2 1.6T Appliance provides a powerful platform for testing the performance, scalability, resilience, and reliability of high-speed Ethernet networks running AI workloads.
With its scalable traffic generation and analysis capabilities, the system helps network teams accelerate development, boost efficiency, and validate readiness for the massive, data-hungry demands of AI-driven data centers.
Beyond supporting the latest 1.6T Ethernet technologies, the D2 offers multi-rate operation across a wide range of next-gen architectures. It delivers exceptionally high traffic capacity, enabling customers to test network performance at full scale, including under AI workload emulation.
The system is tailored for AI data center environments, allowing users to replicate large-scale, real-world CCL AI workloads to ensure network reliability and performance before deployment. It also includes expanded support for advanced optics and emerging interconnect technologies, helping customers test new modules and configurations as the ecosystem continues to evolve.
The TestCenter D2 1.6T Appliance will make its public debut at OFC 2026 in Los Angeles (booth #1239) from March 17–19, where it has already earned a 4.0 score in the 2026 Lightwave Innovation Reviews.
Leadership Comment
“Current validation technologies are struggling to keep pace with the unprecedented performance and scale requirements of AI and next-generation cloud architectures, which is creating bottlenecks and slowing service rollouts,” said Tom Fawcett, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Lab and Production, VIAVI. “The launch of the TestCenter D2 1.6T Appliance helps change this, giving customers the confidence they need in the speed, reliability and interoperability of new 1.6T-class networks.”
