In December 2024, TDK Corporation declared that ANYbotics, an industrial inspection robots firm based in Switzerland, has gotten a significant investment from its subsidiary, TDK Ventures. The company is committed to expanding the capabilities of robots and demonstrating how they can revolutionize the operation of industrial facilities.TDK Ventures Invests in ANYbotics quadruped robot, ANYmal the volt post 1

Their robots use cutting-edge software, AI, and hardware to produce dependable and quick customer returns. ANYbotics works with a noteworthy network of tech and reseller partners and has gained the trust of hundreds of top firms in the sector worldwide.

Due to ANYbotics’ notable advancements in providing “King of the Hill” turnkey robotics solutions that allow international industrial customers to implement state-of-the-art AI capabilities, TDK Ventures is investing in the company’s most recent $60 million fundraising round.

ANYbotics has raised an additional $60 million, bringing its total funding to $130 million, as evidence of this progress. Leading Silicon Valley and European investors, along with TDK Ventures and other current investors, will spearhead this round, which will expedite ANYbotics’ intentions for global scale and its recent entry into the United States.

A highly qualified technological team, directed by co-founder and CEO Dr. Péter Fankhauser, is in charge of ANYbotics. Legged robots and artificial intelligence have advanced significantly as a result of the team’s work, which started 15 years ago at ETH Zurich, a renowned technical university.

The business is the owner of numerous patents for specialized industrial robot system designs. With more than 20 years of experience in complicated mechatronic systems and scaling at firms like Electrolux, where he oversaw a team of more than 600 people, Chief Technology Officer Andrea Corda recently joined the team to spearhead the development of the next-generation AI-driven robot architecture.

ANYbotics is supported by the advisory board of the company, which has extensive leadership experience in commercial scale-up and top-tier AI knowledge.

The company is currently implementing ANYmal, a robot with superhuman senses that is a reliable, self-sufficient, and flexible inspection solution that comes equipped with top-notch sensors.

Through asset health monitoring, the ANYbotics platform improves preventive maintenance and increases uptime by automating routine inspection. AWS, SAP, Siemens Energy, and SLB enhance ANYbotics’ global reach, and about 200 ANYmal robots are in use and generating value in industrial facilities for clients like BP, Equinor, Novelis, Outokumpu, and Equans.

A few of its numerous responsibilities include monitoring operational assets, detecting temperature abnormalities, detecting the presence of gas, and creating and updating 3D models to provide industrial facility managers with new “superpowers” in total safety.

The only quadruped robot designed from the ground up for industrial inspections in challenging industrial settings, ANYmal is IP 67 rated (100 percent water and ingress protection), integrates the most recent advancements in artificial intelligence, and draws on feedback from key clients.

Key Comments

“ANYbotics’ quadruped robot, ANYmal, is the competitive choice for customers that care about reliability and turnkey deployment,” said Nicolas Sauvage, President, TDK Ventures. “They have built a complete solution. Other robots for heavy-industry inspection automation provide interesting technology, but ANYbotics offers an out-of-the-box product. We are thrilled about the numerous synergy possibilities between ANYbotics and TDK companies, as well as potential cross-synergies with some of our other portfolio companies in the industrial and energy sectors.”TDK Ventures Invests in ANYbotics quadruped robot, ANYmal the volt post 1

“At ANYbotics, we believe in teaming up humans with autonomous robots, where the robot is the coworker to take over repetitive and dangerous tasks,” said Fankhauser. “We strive to empower businesses with cutting-edge robotics technology, leading to a future where robots and humans can collaborate seamlessly to achieve greater outcomes. We are grateful for TDK Ventures’ support and for the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits provided through its TDK Goodness.”
