STMicroelectronics has announced a leadership transition in its India operations, with Anand Kumar taking charge as the new Managing Director(MD). He succeeds Vivek Sharma, who retired after an illustrious 34-year career with the company.
Kumar brings extensive experience in leadership, innovation, and product development, along with a strong record of driving growth in the technology sector. Over the course of his career, he has led large-scale transformations, strengthening both operational efficiency and strategic direction.
Based at STMicroelectronics India headquarters in Greater Noida, Kumar will be responsible for steering the company’s growth in one of its key global markets. His appointment comes at a time when India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem is gaining significant momentum, with the government pushing forward its national semiconductor mission and global players deepening their investments in the region.
The company expressed confidence in Anand Kumar ability to lead its next phase of expansion.
“We believe his expertise and vision will play a pivotal role in advancing our strategic objectives and delivering long-term value,” STMicroelectronics said in a statement.
Sharma, who spent over three decades at the company, was widely recognized for his leadership in building and strengthening ST’s presence in India. His retirement marks the end of a significant era, during which the company consolidated its role as a key contributor to India’s electronics and semiconductor sector.
