ST4SIM-300 Embedded SIM for IoT Solution with GSMA Standard

The ST4SIM-300, unveiled by STMicroelectronics, is said to be the industry’s first embedded SIM that complies with the upcoming GSMA standard for eSIM IoT deployment.ST4SIM-300 with GSMA Specification eSIM for IoT Solution the volt post

The new standard, also known as SGP.32, adds unique capabilities to make controlling Internet of Things devices connected to cellular networks easier.

“Leveraging the incoming GSMA specification, our embedded SIM for IoT solution, ST4SIM-300, enhances flexibility, eases network provider switching, and simplifies managing large numbers of connected devices,” said Agostino Vanore, Edge Authentication and M2M Cellular Marketing Manager at STMicroelectronics. “In a more connected and secured world, it will enable seamlessly track assets across the globe, connect smart devices to the cloud, and securely handle data from billions of devices, supporting our healthcare and smart infrastructures, cities, factories, and homes.”

eSIM for IoT (SGP.32), in contrast to the current eSIM machine-to-machine (M2M) and eSIM Consumer standards, is designed to meet the demands of current IoT installations.

More automation of remote SIM provisioning (RSP), simple SIM profile management for sizable device fleets, and remote switching between network providers—which does away with the need for physical SIM card swaps—are among the capabilities that ST’s ST4SIM-300 provides.

The new eSIM complies with the most recent 5G standard and makes it easier to deploy low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) and devices with restricted user interfaces.

Wafer-level chip-scale packages (WLCSP), which are appropriate for smart meters, GPS trackers, asset monitors, remote sensors, medical wearables, and other similar devices, are among the form factors in which ST is sampling ST4SIM-300 eSIMs.

In a variety of form factors, including wafer-level chip-scale, ST is sampling ST4SIM-300 eSIMs. The ST4SIM-300 is designed with an EAL6+ certified ST secure microcontroller and is built with security in mind from the bottom up.

Enabling secure element features for end-to-end communication and supporting scalable security by design for IoT device manufacturers is made easier by the eSIM’s compatibility with the GSMA IoT SAFE applet.(WLCSP) appropriate for wearable medical technology, smart meters, GPS trackers, asset monitors, and remote sensors.
