Quintauris now has STMicroelectronics as a sixth shareholder. The French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer joins Robert Bosch GmbH, Infineon Technologies AG, Nordic Semiconductor ASA, NXP® Semiconductors, and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. which are already among the other Quintauris shareholders.
In order to promote the adoption of products built on RISC-V principles, Quintauris was established in December 2023.
This will involve helping to create versatile, cross-industry solutions and providing access to reference architectures. The automotive industry will be the target of the first core industrial applications, with plans to expand into mobile and IoT, said its official release.
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley first created RISC-V, an open-standard Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), in 2010.
“ST is a welcome addition to our list of shareholders,”said Alexander Kocher, CEO, Quintauris. “By fostering collaboration between the world’s largest semiconductor companies, we aim to explore and unlock the potential of RISC-V for all the industries we will serve.”
