The ISM330BX Integrates:

  • ST’s edge-processing engine, which combines a finite state machine (FSM) and AI algorithms with a machine-learning core (MLC) to offload the host CPU and conserve system power.
  • For 3D orientation tracking, the IMU also incorporates ST’s Sensor Fusion Low-Power (SFLP) algorithm, which can improve energy efficiency in robots and intelligent safety helmets, among other applications.
  • The sensor may also autonomously adjust its settings in real-time for optimal performance and power by utilizing adaptive self-configuration (ASC).
  • By offloading the main CPU and reducing data transfer between the IMU and host system, the ISM330BX’s autonomous capabilities guarantee low latency and low power consumption.

By directly linking external analog sensors to the edge-AI processing engine for data filtering and AI inference, the integrated analog hub expands the possibilities for energy-efficient system integration.

Engineers may create novel industrial sensors and other battery-powered smart devices with the ISM330BX’s various power-saving features. These devices can also be used to enhance current industrial assets, making them more intelligent and industry-ready. 5.0

The IMU may incorporate touch and close-proximity detection, as well as value-added features like water leak detecting, to improve system integration and energy efficiency because ST’s Qvar electric charge variation detector is also integrated.

The launch of the ISM330BX advances MEMS technology for industrial markets and further enriches the MEMS ecosystem by offering developers access to essential hardware such as the STEVAL-MKI245KA adapter board. There are also software resources including MEMS Studio and ready-to-go application examples in GitHub free of charge, presenting a collaborative environment for innovation.

Key Applications Include

With a low-noise design and a bandwidth of up to 2 kHz, the ISM330BX IMU’s three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer are well-suited for vibration detection in machine tool condition monitoring applications. Intelligent appliances, motion trackers, automated guided vehicles (AGV), and residential and industrial robots are more application cases.
