SSIR Opt Keysight S-FTL to Automate 5G Field-To-Lab Process

Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has chosen the Keysight Signaling Field-To-Lab (S-FTL) solution to automate and optimize its 5G field-to-lab process at its Bengaluru lab, according to a statement released by Keysight Technologies.Signaling Field-To-Lab (S-FTL) of Keysight opted by SSIR the volt post

The complete end-to-end 5G wireless protocol signaling solution expedites the replication, analysis, and resolution of 5G field issues in a test lab setting, therefore enhancing end-user quality of experience (QoE).

Focus has turned to making sure users have the best quality of experience (QoE) by quickly resolving issues that are reported from the field as 5G deployment proceeds. To find potential answers, a major difficulty is to replicate complex field conditions in a lab setting.

To duplicate the problems, this necessitates the laborious and intricate process of examining field logs, which frequently include inaccuracies or missing data. Mobile operators, device manufacturers, and chip makers must find a fast and dependable way to convert device field records into exactly duplicated protocol sequences in the lab in order to overcome this difficulty.

SSIR needed an intelligent test automation system that could reproduce field issues in its Bengaluru test lab in order to support its worldwide client base. Furthermore, SSIR was searching for a way to free up its engineers to work on solving problems in the field rather than deciphering logs or building test cases.

Because the Keysight S-FTL solution allows for the automatic development of test cases from device field reports, SSIR selected it.

This solution, which is based on the 5G Protocol R&D Toolset, automates the process by first evaluating field logs for 5G / 4G and IMS, then reproducing the field situation as a test script and applying protocol-based tweaks to assure protocol compliant behavior. For quicker workflow adoption, the S-FTL solution has an open input log template that supports several formats.

SSIR’s engineers now spend more time enhancing end-user QoE and have considerably decreased the amount of time required to recreate field scenarios in the lab thanks to the Keysight S-FTL solution. Many real-world problems, including voice and data calls, handovers, 5G to 4G mobility, and carrier aggregation for deployments with single SIM, dual SIM, and dual connectivity, have been resolved with the solution.

Balajee Sowrirajan, Corporate EVP & MD, SSIR, said: “Our partnership with Keysight has leveraged each of our strengths to recreate real-world field scenarios in a lab environment. This collaboration has accelerated resolution of communication and connectivity issues for our wireless modem customers. With a comprehensive set of tools and techniques for testing, the S-FTL solution enables our engineers to identify and resolve communication issues more accurately. This has also helped to significantly save validation costs and turnaround time. In a nutshell, it has ensured reliability and cost effectiveness, the two most critical components in today’s rapidly evolving telecommunications landscape.”

Cao Peng, Vice President and General Manager for Keysight’s Wireless Test Group, said: “We are pleased to support SSIR’s strategic goals in the current 5G technology phase of network rollout and field integration testing. Keysight’s automated software-based chipset and device test solutions for replicating field issues are designed to help improve efficiency of the process. Keysight is committed to delivering test solutions that help accelerate the commercial introduction of 5G devices and networks to 5G leaders such as SSIR.”
