The Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT) and Spirent Communications announced their partnership to promote the Indian government’s ambitious “Bharat 6G Vision,” which aims to establish India as a global leader in 6G technology.

Through the partnership, Spirent’s technology will be used to test and simulate 5G core network functionality, opening the door for next-generation 6G innovation and development in India. CEWiT is an independent research society of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM).

Under this partnership, Spirent Landslide is now at the forefront of CEWiT’s Center of Excellence (CoE) for 5G and 6G development.

Utilizing Spirent’s cutting-edge capabilities to reach significant milestones in 5G/6G research and development, the partnership will assist in meeting the demands of India’s expanding telecommunications landscape, with a current focus on validating 3GPP Release 17 features and enabling 5G Security Assurance Specification (SCAS).

By operating as an incubator for telecom startups, promoting innovation, prototyping, and product development of various 5G-based services and products, and playing a significant role in establishing standards and legislation, The new CoE plays a crucial role in India’s technical ecosystem.

By implementing 5G SCAS testing, allowing high-definition voice-over NR (VoNR), and validating signaling and data plane workloads, CEWiT has already effectively expedited its research and product development processes with the use of Spirent Landslide.

In addition to supporting government-led initiatives like the rollout of 5G throughout India and the modernization of railway communications using Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) standards, the technology supports critical use cases like Next Generation NodeB (gNB) development, massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), containerized applications, and performance characterization.

Spirent’s Landslide is the go-to option for both public and private sector projects since it is acknowledged as the standard for evaluating the scalability, reliability, and advanced technologies of 5G core networks.
