In order to demonstrate how USSF identification and access management (IDAM) software can be integrated with SpiderOak’s Platform for safeguarding space systems, the Space Development Agency (SDA) has granted SpiderOak more funds for its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract.
By implementing zero trust principles throughout the entire architecture, the contract extension highlights how crucial it is to secure ground and space interactions.
The Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), a highly dispersed commercial and defense mesh network of terrestrial and space-based assets in low earth orbit, presents special cybersecurity concerns that SDA can handle with SpiderOak.
The project expands on SpiderOak’s accomplishment of topic-level micro segmentation, which makes it possible to use zero-trust principles to stop illegal access to resources and data.
SpiderOak’s security features will guarantee that PWSA systems continue to function even in the case of a network breach by tackling vulnerabilities like malware that propagates over flattened network architectures.
Whether network security rules are implemented at the tactical edge or as part of the PWSA architecture, SpiderOak ensures that all network interactions are encrypted, authenticated, and approved. It is possible to mitigate the consequences of a network intrusion by preventing data theft, spoofing, and unauthorized endpoint access.
The PWSA network from SDA is intended to function as a single network that spans both space and ground parts. The overall mission success will be improved by this architecture’s ability to maintain secure operations while streamlining the integration procedure for existing Space Force systems with SpiderOak zero-trust measures.
Key Comments
“SpiderOak is excited to continue this collaboration with SDA to advance cyber resilience for space operations,” said Matthew Erickson, VP of Solutions at SpiderOak. “The extension allows us to further demonstrate our technology by integrating seamlessly with existing Space Force Identity and Access Management systems, reducing operational costs while strengthening overall mission resilience.”
“Our collaboration with SDA and SSC underscores the urgent need to address the evolving threat landscape with advanced zero-trust architectures,” said Charles Beames, Executive Chairman of SpiderOak. “Innovations such as the SpiderOak Platform are pivotal to ensuring the resilience and operational security of space systems as they become increasingly critical to national security and global stability.”
