Flagship AWG Cards Generate Waveforms with 10 GS/s Speed

With Spectrum Instrumentation’s new PCIe flagship AWG cards and cost-effective COTS (Commercial-of-the-shelf) PC parts, almost any waveform can be produced with up to 10 GS/s output speeds, 2.5 GHz bandwidth, and 16-bit vertical resolution.Spectrum PCIe flagship AWG cards, COTS PC Parts The Volt Post

Benchtop AWGs, which frequently have a bottleneck when loading data for new waveforms, the new cards can bring a fresh solution.

The AWG cards can stream data at up to 10 gigabytes per second straight from CPUs or even GPUs, and they have a huge onboard memory of up to 8 gigaSamples (16 GB). The M5i.63xx AWG series comes in four versions, each of which provides an ideal fit for any application.

When the cards are inserted into a compatible PC, it becomes one of the most powerful signal generation devices available, states Spectrum Instrumentation’s official release.

Waveform generation is provided by the four AWG variations with output rates of 10, 5, or 3.2 Gigasamples per second (GS/s) and bandwidths of 2.5 and 1.5 GHz.

The units provide programmable full-scale outputs and 16-bit vertical resolution. Single outputs double the range in differential mode, delivering up to ±500 mV into 50 Ohm and ±1.0 V into high impedance loads.

Ultrafast Data Streaming

2 GSample of onboard memory (8 GSample optional) and a 16-lane, Gen 3, PCIe bus for high-speed data transfer are included with every card. Data can be transferred to cards at an astounding 10 GB/s thanks to this lightning-fast bus.

Data can even be continually sent to the AWG for playback in FIFO mode for demanding applications, which enables nearly infinite waveform production.

To further accelerate waveform processing, add Spectrum’s SCAPP driver package, which enables FIFO streaming straight to and from a GPU.

Versatile Waveform Generation

There are three ways to output waveforms: single-shot, repeated, and multiple replay. Multiple Replay can generate segmented data and be used in conjunction with FIFO streaming to optimize memory efficiency.

A trigger event or a straightforward software command can start a waveform replay. Two external trigger lines are available for the input of trigger signals.

Multi-Channel Systems

There are one or two analog output channels on each board. Using the company’s exclusive Star-Hub clock and trigger synchronization module, cards can be joined to form bigger multi-channel systems.

Star-Hub provides fully synchronous output speeds of 5 GS/s on up to 16 channels or 10 GS/s on up to 8 channels, enabling systems with up to eight cards to share a single clock and trigger.

Mixed AWG and Digitizer Systems

The seven variations of the M5i.33xx digitizer series and the four new models of the M5i.63xx AWG series are made to function together, which makes them perfect for use in closed-loop, stimulus-response, and receiver-transmitter testing systems.

For instance, ultrafast MIMO systems with up to eight AWGs and eight digitizers can be constructed if two Star-Hubs are employed.

As a result, systems with up to 16 broadcast and 16 receive channels—each with 5 GS/s—can be created.

Easy Connection With Other Devices

Four multi-function SMA connectors are located on the front panel for simple system integration. Asynchronous Digital-I/O, Synchronous Digital-Out, Trigger Output, Run and Arm status flags, and the System Clock are just a few of the input/output functions that these can execute.

The AWG can be expanded to include four more synchronous output channels by converting the multi-function I/O lines to digital outputs. As a result, an AWG card can produce up to two analog and four digital outputs at maximum speed in parallel.

To convert the four digital outputs into digital generator outputs, a Digital Pulse Generator firmware is an alternative.

When working on OEM projects or integrating with other equipment for experiment control, all of these characteristics are quite beneficial.

Fully Programmable

The cards are fully programmable and operate with the most widely used and potent software languages available today under the Windows or Linux operating systems.

SDKs for C++, C#, Python, VB.NET, Julia, Java, and IVI are included with every product. Additionally, drivers are offered for MATLAB and LabVIEW, two third-party software programs. Spectrum PCIe flagship AWG cards, COTS PC Parts The Volt Post

Five Year Warranty

The AWGs from the Spectrum M5i.63xx family can be delivered right now. In addition to a five-year warranty and free software and firmware updates for the duration of the product’s life, all cards come factory tested.
