Spectrum Instrumentation began as a small development team in 1989 and has since expanded to become a recognized manufacturer of PC-based high-performance measurement technology.

After 36 years of leadership, the company’s founder and CEO, Gisela Hassler, is now bringing about the next significant milestone in its history: A modern headquarters is being constructed at the technology industrial park in Ahrensburg, close to Hamburg, Germany, to handle the company’s continuous expansion. September 9, 2025, marked the laying of the foundation stone.

The development team adopted a modular concept in 2000, creating a vast array of more than 200 models for digitizing and producing electronic signals by combining several base cards with numerous plug-on modules.

A distinctive product line on the market is the end result. Later, the business created the NETBOX family of standalone measuring devices, which is another global success story that can be operated from any PC.

According to its official release, leading companies like Intel, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Philips, and Bosch are among the customers today, along with esteemed academic institutions worldwide.

Materials science, medical and energy technologies, automobile and aviation building, laser and fiber-optic based equipment, communications, semiconductor automated testing systems, and aerospace and quantum research all employ Spectrum’s measuring devices.

Applications are as varied as studies on early-warning systems for volcanoes and dolphin communication. At CERN, 140 Spectrum PC boards manage the biggest particle accelerator in the world.

Highest quality, a five-year warranty, and prompt assistance straight from the hardware and software creators are what Spectrum stands for. The availability of spare parts and services for 15 to 20 years is uncommon in the rapidly evolving electronics sector.

Spectrum Instrumentation will have the chance to maintain its consistent expansion in the new corporate facility. Every division of the business, including administration, sales, production, and research and development, will have roomy, state-of-the-art facilities. High-tech infrastructure, quiet rooms, and collaborative spaces are all incorporated into the building design.

The goal is to create a workspace that offers convenience, productivity, flexibility, and comfort. Additionally, the structure is set up to accommodate future expansions as needed. This northern German industrial district on the northeastern outskirts of Hamburg is already home to numerous other cutting-edge high-tech companies.

Leadership Comments

Founder Gisela Hassler recalls: “Our initial focus was on customized solutions, but as early as 1991, we developed and produced our first PC card. This product for digitizing electronic signals was a success and remained on the market for 17 years – an early sign of the longevity and customer-oriented service that characterizes the company to this day.” Gisela Hassler (CEO) leads the company together with Chief Engineer Oliver Rovini (CTO), who joined the company in 1995, and Carsten Gralla (MD), who has been part of the management since 2021.
