S&P Global has announced that Infineon Technologies is now part of both the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. The listing recognizes Infineon’s business sustainability record for the fifteenth time in a row.
Based on long-term economic, environmental, and social factors, the benchmark index consists of the top 10% of the S&P Global Broad Market Index’s 2,500 largest companies.
Semiconductors make it possible to utilize resources more effectively and contribute to the full development of digital technology. Products from Infineon reduce manufacturing-related pollutants by 45 times affirms its official release.
By developing more intelligent and energy-efficient semiconductor products, the business hopes to increase this ratio. Modern power systems, for example, allow for much greater energy efficiency in data centers, electric vehicles, and renewable energy production.
At the same time Infineon is striving to further reduce its own CO2 footprint. Aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030, Infineon has already reduced scope 1 and 2 emissions by two thirds, and is thus well on track to hit the target of 70 percent reduction compared with the base year of 2019 by 2025.
Infineon aspires to be a pioneer in sustainability for the semiconductor industry; it already has the lowest normalized scope 1 and scope 2 emissions and the lowest water consumption in its peer group.
The company is now taking things a step further by establishing a science-based goal to reduce CO2 emissions in compliance with the Paris Climate Agreement. Infineon’s goal for climate preservation also encompasses the supply chain (scope 3).
The company’s plan to release comprehensive information on each product’s Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) in 2024 marked yet another significant milestone. Customers benefit from increased transparency regarding their personal carbon footprints as a result.
One of the most significant sustainability benchmarks is the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which identifies the top businesses worldwide in this area across all industries. Its goal is to encourage businesses to actively continue their efforts in this area and to assist investors in making well-informed judgments about how to more clearly align sustainability parts of their portfolios.
