Recently, the fourth-generation (Gen4) 0.18 BCD process of SK Keyfoundry, an 8-inch pure-play foundry in Korea, was launched. This process offers a 20% performance boost over the preceding third-generation (Gen3). With its most recent development, SK Keyfoundry offers solutions for better power semiconductor performance in automotive and mobile devices.
The Fourth-Generation 0.18? BCD Process from SK Keyfoundry Provides:
- Power devices up to 40V with different power device gate inputs.
- Including 3.3V, 5V, and 18V.
- In order to help customers with product design, it also provides alternatives such as SRAM memory, OTP (One-Time Programmable) memory, and MTP (Multi-Time Programmable) memory for cutting.
In addition to meeting the automotive quality standard AEC-Q100 Grade 1, which guarantees IC operation in high-temperature environments of 125°C for use in automotive power semiconductors, SK Keyfoundry’s fourth-generation 0.18? BCD process also allows automotive product designs to withstand voltages higher than 15,000V. The thick IMD (Inter Metal Dielectric) option is also available.
The company expects the fourth-generation 0.18? BCD process to contribute to longer battery life for mobile devices, stable performance with lower heating, and improved performance by improving the energy efficiency of power semiconductors for automotive applications.
This is based on the mass production experience gained from the third-generation 0.18? BCD process and the high level of customer confidence.
