SIMCom just announced two new smart AI modules, the SIM8666 and SIM8668 seriesthat make it dead simple to add AI-powered imaging to all sorts of applications.
These are SIMCom’s entry-level Android LTE smart AI modules, packed into a tiny 43 x 44 x 3.2mm footprint. They run on Rockchip’s 64-bit quad-core RK3566/RK3568 IoT chips, with an ARM Mali-G52 GPU, 8M ISP HDR, and 1T NPU for heavy-lifting AI tasks.
Onboard support includes Wi-Fi/BT, H.264/H.265 4K@60fps decoding (and 1080p@60fps encoding), plus JPEG encode/decode.
Interfaces for Endless Versatility
With a ton of connectivity options, these modules hook up effortlessly to cameras, displays, audio gear, sensors, and more enabling rich data collection and human-machine interaction. Key interfaces: LVDS, MIPI-DSI, RGB, eDP, HDMI 2.0, EBC, CSI, UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, PWM, USB, PCIe, SATA.
The built-in NPU handles INT8/INT16 mixed operations, so converting models from TensorFlow, MXNet, PyTorch, or Caffe is a breeze.
