Sales of semiconductors worldwide in the second quarter of 2024 reached $149.9 billion, up 18.3% from the same period in 2023 and 6.5% over the same period in 2024.
Sales of semiconductors increased by 1.7% to $50.0 billion in June 2024 from a total of $49.1 billion in May 2024. With respect to revenue, SIA accounts for approximately two-thirds of non-US chip companies and 99% of the US semiconductor sector. These statistics was recently revealed by Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
“The global semiconductor market remained strong during the second quarter of 2024, with quarter-to-quarter sales increasing for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2023,” said SIA President and CEO John Neuffer. “Sales in the month of June were up both month-to-month and year-to-year, with the Americas market leading the way with growth of 42.8% compared to June 2023.”
In terms of geography, Sales of semiconductors increased in China (21.6%) and Asia Pacific/All Other (12.7%) in addition to the Americas’ year-over-year gain, but decreased in Japan (-5.0%) and Europe (-11.2%). June saw a rise in month-over-month sales in the Americas (6.3%), Asia Pacific/All Other (-1.4%), and Japan (1.8%), but a decline in Europe (-1.0%) and China (0.8%).
