SEMI announces SEMICON India 2024, the event’s first-ever Indian edition. Known to be a historic event, which is being organized in association with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Digital India, and Messe München India, will take place at the India Exposition Mart Ltd. (IEML) in Greater Noida on September 11–13, 2024.
With an emphasis on smart manufacturing, supply chain management, sustainability, and workforce development, the event promises to provide important insights into the technologies and trends driving the semiconductor industry.
With the global semiconductor industry expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2030, India’s semiconductor industry is expected to grow significantly and play a significant role in this growth. SEMICON India 2024 will bring together the top minds and most influential leaders in the industry at this pivotal moment to accelerate India’s semiconductor growth story.
SEMICON India 2024, which has strong backing from the MeitY, ISM, and Indian government, will highlight India’s expanding strengths in the semiconductor industry.
Representatives from the state governments of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha will discuss their plans for developing the semiconductor and display ecosystems. They will put out progressive, business-friendly policies meant to draw large investments and promote expansion.
Elated to announce the even, Ajit Manocha, SEMI President and CEO, said, “SEMI is thrilled to bring the collective power and expertise of our member companies from around the world to SEMICON India 2024 for the first time. The event marks a key milestone in our efforts to accelerate the growth of the semiconductor industry in this dynamic market following our historical success hosting annual SEMICONs in our seven other regions.
“India has long been a hub for semiconductor design, but with recent investments, its evolving role in global technology and the right policies, we are witnessing a significant shift. The Indian semiconductor market, projected to exceed $100 billion and generate over 600,000 jobs by 2030, is poised for tremendous growth. This event will be a catalyst, helping to unlock the market’s potential and drive India’s ambitions in the semiconductor space,” said Ajit Manocha, SEMI President and CEO.
Themed, “Shaping the Semiconductor Future,” aims to showcase India’s strategic efforts to fortify its ecosystem while accelerating technological advancement in the semiconductor and electronics sectors.
Expanding into semiconductor manufacturing would greatly improve India’s standing in the global semiconductor value chain, building on the nation’s decades-long expertise in semiconductor design, where it accounts for 20 percent of the workforce with over 125,000 professionals.
SEMICON India 2024, the biggest event of its type in Southeast Asia, will include more than 650 booths and more than 250 exhibitors from the entire semiconductor supply chain worldwide. Located alongside electronica India and productronica India, it will offer the most extensive platform in the region for exhibiting the most recent developments in electronics and semiconductor technologies.
