SAWiT.AI, a joint venture between GUVI and SAWiT (South Asia Women in Tech), is scheduled to debut on September 21, 2024. Through practical use of cutting-edge AI tools, this effort seeks to provide 500,000 Indian women with a foundational understanding of generative artificial intelligence(Gen AI).
SAWiT.AI aims to be a leading event intended to elevate the role of women in technology and address a pressing national challenges. It is supported by a distinguished advisory council that includes Farzana Haque, Senior Leader at Tata Consultancy Services, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Actress and advocate for women’s empowerment, and Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Tech.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies and SAWiT advisor, emphasizes, “To make a difference, you have to have large aspirations.” As India’s leading woman in tech, her support underscores the spirit of SAWiT.”
Female Workforce Participation in India
India now has a female labor force participation rate of just 24%, which is much lower than that of other nations. According to research by the McKinsey Global Institute, just a 10% increase in female involvement may boost India’s GDP by an astounding $550 billion. However, women’s limited mobility (more than 50% not leaving their homes on a regular basis) and societal conventions make it difficult for them to enter the workforce and support the economy.
Current GenAI Market Overview
Precedence Research predicts that the generative AI market would reach a whopping USD 803.9 billion by 2033, reflecting the explosive growth in demand for AI expertise worldwide. But there’s a serious skills gap that could hinder this development. By giving women employable AI capabilities, SAWiT.AI directly addresses this issue by increasing the adaptability and self-assurance of their careers. In addition to contributing to practical AI applications and earning useful certifications, participants close the skills gap and advance the AI revolution.
SAWiT.AI tackles this challenge head-on by providing a comprehensive learning and career development platform for women in AI. The program offers:
- SAWiT.AI Learnathon (September 21, 2024): A hands-on learning experience in Generative AI.
- SAWiT.AI Hackathon (October 2024): The world’s largest women-led Generative AI challenge, where teams develop advanced AI applications.
- SAWiT.AI Festival (November 2024): Celebrating Generative AI innovation, awarding challenge winners, and recognizing pioneering institutions, partners, and sponsors.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, an acclaimed actress and advocate for women’s empowerment, states, “I’m fascinated by the possibilities of Gen AI and incredibly excited about the important work that SAWiT is doing. Their unprecedented event, SAWiT.AI, offers women the opportunity to elevate their careers and capabilities by learning a transformative technology. I believe this initiative will showcase the unparalleled potential of Indian women and I wish them the greatest success.”
HCL Tech is one of the corporate sponsors of SAWiT.AI. By encouraging the involvement of thousands of women in technology, including their own workers, this cooperation demonstrates their dedication to diversity and social impact.
Corporates can also access top AI talent by sponsoring the event, which enables them to use the expertise of India’s finest AI thinkers to solve real-world business difficulties. Soon, more well-known and international firms will be joining the group since they can also take advantage of SAWiT.AI’s benefits, which include leadership in diversity and access to a large talent pool.
SAWiT.AI is a driver of India’s economic development, not only a training program. This program will reduce the gender gap, empower women, and accelerate India’s ascent to prominence in the AI world. It is recommended for women with and without technical credentials to apply.
By equipping 500,000 women with in-demand AI skills, SAWiT.AI aims to:
