The Internet Governance Internship and Capacity Building Scheme was introduced by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI). The goal of this program is to increase Indian citizens’ knowledge and proficiency in Internet governance (IG). Shri S. Krishnan, Chairman of NIXI and Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, introduced the program.
The goal of this program is to give participants the skills they need to work directly with top authorities in the field and participate in international internet governance procedures with I-Star organizations including ICANN, ISOC, IEEE, and IETF. It will develop a pool of homegrown talent capable of delving deeply into new issues related to internet governance and helping to resolve them.
The program offers two concurrent programs for its biannual internship: a three-month program and a six-month program.
Subject matter experts from international organizations such as ICANN APNIC or APTLD, members of Special Interest Groups, senior retired government officials, and faculty advisers from reputable colleges and universities will serve as mentors for each intern.
Interns will get a fixed monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000 in addition to assistance in carrying out required outreach initiatives.
