The R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and its midrange equivalent, the R&S SMM100A, have been upgraded by Rohde & Schwarz. The improved R&S SMW200A is a reliable option for high demand RF applications such as power amplifier testing, as well as 5G NR FR3 research, thanks to notable improvements in error vector magnitude (EVM) performance.
Additionally, the instrument now has a new RF linearization software option that optimizes EVM at high output power via digital pre-distortion. Better EVM capabilities have also been added to the R&S SMM100A.
The famous R&S SMW200A for the most demanding applications and its midrange counterpart, the best-in-class R&S SMM100A, are the most recent version of Rohde & Schwarz’s two vector signal generators.
The R&S SMW200A has been outfitted with upgraded microwave hardware for improved error vector magnitude (EVM) performance and increased output power in the frequency band above 20 GHz, in addition to a new front panel and user interface. This meets the requirements of RF component and module testing as well as 5G NR FR2 research.
The R&S SMW-K575, an RF linearization software option included with this upgrade, optimizes EVM at high output power by using digital pre-distortion technology. This guarantees excellent precision and stability across the whole frequency range, even for intricate modulation schemes.
The R&S SMM100A, the midrange equivalent of the R&S SMW200A, also receives these significant improvements. A new low phase noise option, the R&S SMM B709, is also included with the R&S SMM100A. With this option, the R&S SMM100A can provide, for example, an EVM performance better than –53 dB for an IEEE802.11be signal with a bandwidth of 320 MHz.
The enhanced performance improvements provided by R&S SMx-K575 RF linearization are equally advantageous to customers who have previously purchased R&S SMW200A or R&S SMM100A models: Through a straightforward servicing and calibration procedure, Rohde & Schwarz provides retrofit alternatives.
