Rosmerta Technologies declared that, with the assistance of the Maharashtra Transport Department, it will establish its second Automated Testing Station (ATS) in the state.
The establishment of the nation’s first Vehicle Inspection and Certification center in Nasik in 2015 was largely the result because of the efforts of the Maharashtra state.
Ever since the government of India declared its intention to establish an ATS network across the nation. The State Department has been actively developing a policy to establish many Automated Testing Station (ATS) in the state by means of floating bids. Since the tender was awarded to Rosmerta making it one of the organizations that will open 21 centers throughout the state, in addition to the Nasik facility, which will shortly also receive an ATS upgrade.

The introduction of these technologically advanced ATS centers will play a crucial role in scientifically assessing the roadworthiness of vehicles, thereby reducing the risk of accidents caused by unfit vehicles.

Thanking the state and central Government for their policy initiatives and support, Mr. Kartick Nagpal, President, Rosmerta Technologies said, “The importance of safety of road transport is understated by the fact that about 70% of people and material transport is met through the road. With accidents on the rise, the country needs robust measures to bring down the rate of fatalities and injuries to ensure that the avoidable incidents can be prevented. Government of India (MoRTH) has taken the initiative to set up a network of ATS all over the country to issue fitness certificates for public service vehicles under Section 56 of the Amended Motor Vehicle Act. For this purpose, a new Chapter XI for “Recognition, Regulation and Control of Automated Testing Station” was introduced in the CMVR.
It was also notified that all public service vehicles will be required to be tested only through ATS w.e.f. 1st Oct 2024. In pursuance of this requirement, all State Governments are taking requisite action for setting up numerous ATS Centres at different locations in their State, to facilitate the testing of vehicles for issuance of fitness certificates.
Since its establishment in 2015, Rosmerta Technologies has operated a successful first pilot center in Nashik, which was officially opened by Hon. Transport Minister Sh. Nitin Gadkari. The Maharashtra Transport Department took the lead in setting up these Centers all over the state, making it the first department in the nation to do so. The contract to establish 21 ATS Centers around the State has been given to Rosmerta Technologies Ltd. Work has already started on Baramati, which has already been inaugurated.

The Need for ATS
Establishing an Automated Testing Station (ATS) is primarily intended to assess transport vehicles’ roadworthiness using genuine equipment in a scientific manner prior to their use on public roads. The testing is conducted using fully automated test lane equipment, which may be reserved online. Test results are uploaded to VAHAN, and the VAHAN portal is then used to issue the fitness certificate. All manual involvement has been eliminated.
By installing these next-gen technology, the number of fatal accidents will decrease and vehicle safety would be improved. The transport operators will be able to provide the fitness certificate without any harassment and will save a large amount of time because manual involvement will not be necessary.
