N-channel MOSFETs from ROHM To Now Cater the Automotive Market

New N-channel MOSFETs from ROHM, the RF9x120BKFRA, RQ3xxx0BxFRA, and RD3x0xBKHRB, have a low ON-resistance that makes them perfect for LED headlamps and door and seat positioning motors, among other automotive applications. Ten models in three different package kinds are now on sale, and more models will be added in the future revealed ROHM in its official release.ROHM N-channel Mosfets low ON-Resistance for Automotive The Volt Post

Optimizing Fuel and Electricity Consumption in Modern Automotive

The demand for increased convenience and safety is driving an increase in the number of electronic components in the automotive sector. To optimize fuel and electricity consumption, enhanced power efficiency has become critically important.

Therefore, Lower ON resistance is becoming more and more necessary, especially for MOSFETs, which are crucial for switching applications in automotive systems, in order to reduce loss and heat generation.

Now, ROHM, a supplier of low ON-resistance MOSFETs for industrial and consumer electronics, is bringing similar technology to the automotive market. The power semiconductor major company developed 10 N-channel MOSFET models with low ON resistance by modifying state-of-the-art medium voltage procedures to satisfy the demanding reliability standards of automotive applications.

Key Specs and Features Include:

  • Offered in voltage ratings of 40V, 60V, and 100V,
  • Incorporates a split-gate structure,
  • Achieve low ON-resistance,
  • Contributing to higher efficiency operation in automotive applications.
  • All models are qualified under the AEC-Q101 automotive reliability standard, guaranteeing exceptional high reliability.

The N-channel MOSFETs in Three Different Packages

Three Different Package Types Are Available To Users, Depending on the Application.

  • The tiny DFN2020Y7LSAA (2.0mm × 2.0mm) and HSMT8AG (3.3mm × 3.3mm) packages are perfect for space-constrained systems like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
  • The popular TO-252 (DPAK) package (6.6mm × 10.0mm) is also available for automotive power applications.
  • Furthermore, by employing gull-wing leads for the TO-252 package and wettable flank technology for the DFN2020Y7LSAA package, ROHM has further improved mounting relaibility.

Expanding Lineup of Medium-Voltage N-channel MOSFETs

In the future, ROHM intends to increase the number of medium-voltage N-channel MOSFETs in its lineup in order to further reduce size and boost efficiency for automotive applications. The DFN3333 (3.3mm x 3.3mm) and HPLF5060 (5.0mm × 6.0mm) package mass production is planned for October 2024, with the 80V goods following in 2025. P-channel goods are also planned for release in the future.
