For its next-generation motor control solutions for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Reflex Drive, an Indian deep tech startup, has chosen power devices from Infineon Technologies. High power density in a small package is made possible by Reflex Drive’s electric speed controllers (ESCs) combining Infineon’s OptiMOS 80 V and 100 V, which improve thermal management and increase efficiency.
Furthermore, compact, accurate, and reliable motor control is provided by Infineon’s MOTIX IMD701 controller solution, which combines the XMC1404 microcontroller with the MOTIX 6EDL7141 3-phase gate driver IC. This makes it possible for UAVs to fly for longer periods of time, perform better, and be more reliable.
Reflex Drives’ high-performance BLDC motors are made for optimal flight control and allow predictive maintenance of drive systems, while its ESCs with field-oriented control (FOC) provide enhanced motor efficiency and accurate control.
With a small space of 120 cm³ and a weight of only 180 g, the ESCs can continuously provide 3.8 kW of power (12S/48 V, 80 A continuous). They are perfect for motors with a thrust range of 15 to 20 kg because of their lightweight construction, strong power output, and reliable FOC control, even in harsh weather conditions.
As a result, they are especially well-suited for drone applications in the domains of goods transportation, small-scale logistics, seed distribution, and agricultural spraying technology.
