Redis 8 was released, giving all Redis users access to the most cutting-edge Redis capabilities. Redis for AI, a new set of core tools and features needed for the modern AI stack, was also launched by the company.
Redis 8 supercharges Redis Community Edition
Millions of developers use and cherish Redis Community Edition worldwide today. Redis 8 releases the next iteration of the quick, adaptable, and free base the team has worked on for 15 years and opens up the greatest Redis features to all users, said its official release.
The most sophisticated and well-supported platform for developers is Redis 8 Community Edition. First-time and seasoned users of Redis Software or Redis Cloud will benefit from a streamlined, simplified experience as Redis 8 offers all of the diverse features of Redis Stack.
With new features like support for JSON, search, and vector databases, users will be able to scale mobile, web, and AI apps faster than ever before. The Redis 8 Community Edition is currently accessible to anyone.

Redefining the AI stack with Redis for AI
Redis, which was created in the mobile and cloud age, is known for its speed. Redis is the leading data platform for powering widely used applications and experiences, thanks to its exceptional speed, ease of use, and versatility, which have attracted the attention of millions of developers worldwide.
With the advent of GenAI, developers are addressing the issues of data speed, security, and integrity that they were confronted with ten years ago. However, the stakes have increased. Redis’s latest features and offerings are intended to improve developer workflows and surpass GenAI’s data-intensive requirements.
Redis for AI is an integrated suite of Redis’ AI features and support, intended to assist developers in deploying and scaling GenAI applications with speed and ease.
Redis for AI comes with the same flexibility Redis has always been renowned for, along with new partner packages called llama-index-vector-stores-redis and langchain-redis , as well as recipes and reference designs.
RedisVL 0.3.0 is also included. Redis offers its users a wide range of connectors and partners, all based on its benchmark-leading vector database and real-time data platform.
- RAG with the fastest vector database: Real-time architecture for GenAI apps
- Semantic caching: Retrieve stored answers fast and save >30% on costly LLM calls
- LLM memory: Personalize user sessions with all the data LLM needs at the right time
- Agentic memory: Make agents faster for more complex reasoning and better answers
- Feature store: Get predictions in less than 1 millisecond for production ML models
The same reliability, Redis has long been known for is available with Redis for AI, which operates in cloud, on-premise, and hybrid systems and supports a variety of data formats.
Development teams can work directly with professionals who have deployed Redis for AI at some of the biggest firms globally, ensuring application performance at any size and speeding up deployment deadlines with specialized assistance.
Redis Flex
The next iteration of Redis on Flash, called Redis Flex, lets developers utilize Redis more widely without having to worry about higher expenses or having to completely redo their data architecture.
Previously, Redis on Flash was limited to big caches. Because of cost, developers have to limit the size of caches in order to employ Redis in more places. Redis Cloud Essentials now offers 5 GB of cache for the same price as 1 GB, for all cache sizes down to 1 GB, allowing you to cache more.
Redis has increased the speed of customer apps and decreased the cost of Redis deployments by up to 80% since acquiring Speedb earlier this year, all without requiring any code changes.
Redis Flex, which can operate on both DRAM and SSD, offers real-time performance at a far reduced cost when compared to other in-memory solutions such as Memorystore, ElastiCache, and self-managed Redis Community Edition.
This implies that consumers can utilize Redis Software and Redis Cloud to get faster replies and cheaper prices without having to change their current data architecture. The public preview of Redis Flex is almost here.
Redis Copilot
Redis Copilot is a virtual assistant designed to help you learn Redis quickly. With features like semantic caching, vector databases, and rate limiting, it leverages the Redis real-time data platform and Redis for AI to provide quick replies at scale. Redis Copilot enables developers to write code automatically, ask questions about their data in natural language, get information from documents more quickly, and receive replies quickly and at scale.
Redis Copilot is free and generally available inside Redis Insight.
Redis Data Integration (RDI)
Customers may reduce technical debt and boost speed using Redis Data Integration without having to completely rethink their data strategy. With little setup required, RDI synchronizes data from pre-existing databases with Redis, simplifying the process of enhancing data with Redis and constructing a federated data stack.
By using a single API to link datastores to Redis, RDI enables users to simplify development processes and guarantee the accuracy of their data. Redis Software currently offers RDI, and Redis Cloud will eventually offer it as well. Go here to find out more.
One of four events Redis is organizing globally, Redis Released: Bengaluru, is where the new line of Redis products and capabilities were first unveiled. Events featuring Redis Released are scheduled for August 29, 2024, in Singapore; September 12, 2024, in London; and October 17, 2024, in New York City.
