One of the most significant GPU architects in the world, Raja Koduri, who has held executive positions at AMD, Apple, and Intel, announced the launch of OXMIQ Labs, a new GPU software and IP powerhouse that is poised to revolutionize AI and graphics computing on a global scale.
After two years of covert research and development, OXMIQ is the result of a top-tier team with over 500 years of combined GPU and AI experience, hundreds of patents, and over $100 billion in previous product sales impact.
Re-architecting GPUs for the multimodal AI era—where text, images, audio, video, and 3D environments all function together seamlessly—is the company’s goal.
India in the Global Semiconductor & AI Race
With India pushing to become a semiconductor manufacturing and AI innovation hub through the government’s Digital India and India Semiconductor Mission, OXMIQ’s licensing-first model and software-first strategy open opportunities for Indian chipmakers, AI startups, and research institutes to access next-gen GPU IP without heavy capital investment.
Ties to India’s Creative Tech Ecosystem
Koduri, also co-founder of Mihira Visual Labs™ with filmmaker SS Rajamouli and producer Shobu Yarlagadda, remains strategic advisor to Mihira. OXMIQ’s GPU IP will power Mihira’s cinematic AI platform, enabling Indian creators to tell global stories using AI-driven tools.
Software First
OXMIQ takes a Software First approach, focusing on developer experience through a unified stack that works across both OXMIQ silicon and third-party GPU and AI platforms. Its software ecosystem, OXCapsule™, removes hardware complexity and simplifies deployment across diverse environments. A key component, OXPython™, allows Python-based NVIDIA® CUDA™ AI applications to run on non-NVIDIA hardware—without any code changes.
Backed by Global Investors
OXMIQ has raised $20 million in seed funding from prominent technology investors, including strategic players in mobile and AI silicon such as MediaTek®, secured early software revenues, and is actively engaging with Indian semiconductor and AI partners for collaboration. “OXMIQ has an impressive bold vision and world-class team,” said Lawrence Loh, SVP of MediaTek “The company’s GPU IP and software innovations will drive a new era of compute flexibility across devices – from mobile to automotive to AI on the edge.”
The OXMIQ Breakthrough: OXMIQ also delivers a complete GPU hardware IP stack, scaling from edge AI devices and robots to zettascale data centers.
Its modular GPU core, OXCORE™, combines scalar, vector, and tensor engines with support for nano-agents, native Python acceleration, and CUDA/SIMD compatibility. With OXQUILT, OXMIQ’s chiplet architecture, customers can scale from single-core edge devices to thousands of cores—optimizing compute, memory, and interconnect to reduce time to market and cost.
Leadership Comments
“Raja Koduri early contributions to Mihira helped shape our foundational vision of cinematic AI. Now, with OXMIQ, he and his team are building the deep-tech infrastructure that powers our next chapter,” said Shobu Yarlagadda, Co-Founder and CEO of Mihira Visual Labs™, and acclaimed producer of the Baahubali film series. “As we scale Mihira into a global creative platform, we’re thrilled to continue our close collaboration with OXMIQ and integrate their agentic GPU innovations into our storytelling stack.”
“India has the talent and vision to lead in AI and semiconductor innovation,” said Raja Koduri, Founder & CEO, OXMIQ. “OXMIQ is creating the deep-tech intellectual property stack essential for India’s sovereign zetta-scale AI infrastructure, enabling the emergence of a trillion-agent economy.”
Launching first on Tenstorrent’s platform, OXPython reflects OXMIQ’s mission to break hardware silos and accelerate open, high-performance computing. “We’re excited to partner with OXMIQ on their OXPython software stack,” said Jim Keller, CEO of Tenstorrent™. “OXPython’s ability to bring Python® workloads for CUDA to AI platforms like Wormhole™ and Blackhole™ is great for developer portability and ecosystem expansion. It aligns with our goal of letting developers open and own their entire AI stack.”
