At CES in Las Vegas, USA, Quectel Wireless Solutions revealed five new short-range modules. The modules, which include the FGM840R standalone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Combo module, the high-power Wi-Fi HaLow FGH100M-H, the Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 FCS962N-LP, the Wi-Fi7 and Bluetooth 5.4 FME170Q-865, and the Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.3 FCU865R, are made to provide developers and designers with a wide range of options as they create cutting-edge devices and applications for the market.
Additionally, LE Audio and Auracast functions have been added to the already-released FCS866R module, improving it. Quectel’s portfolio continues to grow with these most recent additions, enabling developers to provide creative solutions for a variety of IoT applications.
A standalone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo module, the Quectel FGM840R has a dual-core Cortex M33 and M23 CPU with a primary core frequency of up to 200MHz. The module has 512KB of RAM and 4MB of Flash built in, supports Wi-Fi4 and BLE 5.0, and has dual bands of 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Security features including TrustZone and Secure Boot at Flash encryption are supported by the Quectel FGM840R, which complies with the WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and WPA3-SAE security standards.
Measuring 12.5mm x 13.2mm x 2.05mm, the Quectel FGM840R Supports:
- Up to 20 GPIO interfaces which can be multiplexed as UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, PWM, SDIO and USB functions.
- This provides great flexibility and versatility so the module can be utilized in a wide range of use cases, in particular for smart home and industrial IoT scenarios.
- In addition to Wi-Fi and BLE connectivity, the FGM840R, when paired with a USB Ethernet controller, can also support an RJ45 interface.
The Quectel FGH100M-H is a high-power variation of the previously announced Quectel FGH100M Wi-Fi HaLow module. The Quectel FGH100M-H operates in the 902-928MHz frequency band with a channel width of 1,2,4 or 8MHz. The module has a maximum transmit power of 27dBm and a maximum physical data rate of 32.5Mbps.
Based on the Sub-1GHz frequency band, the module provides increased penetration and coverage, allowing users to operate IoT devices within a 1km radius and expanding the reach of smart home or smart city networks. The incredibly small 13.0 x 13.0 x 2.2 mm package size of the Quectel FGH100M-H aids designers and developers in maximizing both the final product’s size and design expenses.
With built-in dual-mode Bluetooth, support for LE audio, and long-range BLE, the Quectel FCS962N-LP is a Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 module that works with both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
For Internet of Things applications, the Quectel FCS962N-LP is made to increase network efficiency, extend IoT applications, and conserve energy. In order to satisfy the various requirements of IoT and IIoT applications, including network cameras, video doorbells, smart homes, smart glasses, smart locks, smart speakers, smart lighting, and home appliances, the module is especially well-suited for low-speed transmission scenarios.
With its low profile and SMT, the Quectel FCS962N-LP module is ideal for use cases that require durability and sensitivity to size. Its dimensions are 12.0 x 12.0 x 1.55 mm. Furthermore, the module’s extensive usefulness is expanded by its large operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. The module provides a maximum physical rate of 143.4 Mbps on 802.11ax in terms of connectivity.
With simultaneous operation on 2.4GHz plus 5GHz, 2.4GHz plus 6GHz, and 5GHz and 6GHz Wi-Fi bands, the Quectel FME170Q-865 is a Wi-Fi7 and Bluetooth 5.4 module. The module supports ultra-low latency for real-time response and has a maximum data throughput of 5.8Gbps with 320MHz bandwidth and 4K-QAM. The FME170Q-865, which supports multi-link operation (MLO), offers increased network reliability, significantly reduced latency, and quicker data rates.
In addition to 2Mbps Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) and BLE Long Range, the Quectel FME170Q-865 incorporates dual-mode Bluetooth and enables Low Energy (LE) audio. The Quectel FME170Q-865, which has dimensions of 22.0 x 30.0 x 2.20 mm and an operating temperature range of -10 °C to +65 °C, is perfect for use cases like laptops.
The Quectel FCU865R is a Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.3 module with a USB interface that supports 1T1R mode and 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. The IEEE 802.11ax MCS 11 rate at an 80MHz channel allows the module to provide transmission rates of up to 600Mbps. The module also supports Auracast and LE audio.
The Quectel FCU865R is perfect for robust and long-lasting designs because of its surface mount technology (SMT) and dimensions of 15.0 x 13.0 x 2.0 mm. With a weight of only 0.82g and a temperature range of -20°C to +70°C, the module gives engineers design flexibility.
LE audio and Auracast have been added to the previously announced Quectel FCS866R. This Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.2 module has a maximum data rate of 1201 Mbps and is incredibly small, measuring only 15.0 x 13.0 x 2.0 mm. With its SMT, the Quectel FCS866R is perfect for robust and long-lasting designs that can also take advantage of its small size and low power consumption.
