An innovative semiconductor manufacturing facility in Bahrain will be established with an investment of USD 16 million by Polymatech Electronics, a prominent semiconductor chip manufacturer, marking a significant step forward in the Middle East’s geography.
Dubbed ‘Atri,’ the facility will be situated in the Bahrain Industrial Area in Hidd and will be the company’s first significant move toward its international development.
With the opening of Polymatech’s new facility, Bahrain will once again be firmly established as a major player in the global technology supply chain, providing vital components for 5G and 6G technologies.
With this investment, the company demonstrates its dedication to advancing technology in the Gulf and supports Bahrain’s goal of developing an economy that prioritizes digitalization.
Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Bahrain’s Chief Executive and Minister of Sustainable Development, welcomed the investment and complimented the decision, saying, “We at Bahrain EDB are pleased to welcome Polymatech alongside several leading multi-sector companies to business-friendly Bahrain. The country continues to maintain momentum in delivering on its vision of developing a digital-first, intelligent economy, fostering a future-ready ecosystem that prioritises the development of next-generation technologies, advanced manufacturing, and a highly skilled workforce.”
The introduction of Polymatech into Bahrain is a big milestone in the direction of the nation’s sustainable growth and economic diversification.
The project advances Bahrain’s long-term objective of developing into a center of innovation and technological leadership in the region.
The existence of a local manufacturing plant is anticipated to drive growth across multiple industries, including defense, automotive, and telecommunications, given the surge in worldwide demand for semiconductors.
“We are excited to bring our expertise in semiconductor manufacturing to Bahrain, which offers a strategic location and facilitated access to the region,” said Eswara Rao Nandam, Managing Director and CEO of Polymatech Electronics. “Establishing our semiconductor manufacturing facility here aligns perfectly with our expansion goals.”
In addition to increasing Bahrain’s GDP, the new facility will spur innovation and generate high-paying jobs in the technology industry, said its official release.
