In order to design, engineer, and test solution enhancements for manufacturers without interfering with existing production lines, Panasonic Corporation of North America’s Panasonic Industrial IOT Solutions Group has relocated to a new facility that includes a sizable production line testing area.
The new facility, located in Rochester, New York, enables the creation and testing of a broad range of tracking and signaling systems in settings that mimic real-world situations.
With an emphasis on quality and performance, Panasonic’s engineering team collaborates closely with manufacturing production teams to find, test, and model solutions in an effort to maximize material flow and enhance overall equipment effectiveness.
The Panasonic software, quality, and application engineering teams can now collaborate in a single, integrated workspace to create solutions more quickly thanks to the new facility.
The foundation of the Panasonic Industrial IOT Solutions Logiscend system is a platform that emphasizes the essential elements of manufacturing (picking, replenishment, asset management, and job instructions).
Combining technical and engineering solutions that may be evaluated offline to reduce disturbance for the benefit of customers’ manufacturing processes, the new facility’s open design and collaborative ease enable more effective modification and deployment of these essential components.
The Logiscend system from Panasonic has a successful track record. A major automotive Tier 1 supplier was able to easily adopt inline and change its parts replenishment process with little impact by utilizing offline planning and testing.
By replacing an antiquated paper-based Kanban system with Panasonic’s Logiscend system, which enabled real-time electronic communication via e-paper visual tags for parts requests, efficiency was greatly increased and total expenses were decreased.
Key Comments
“Moving to this new facility simplifies and streamlines collaboration, rapid testing and implementation planning before customers adopt a new solution,” said Michael Buonaccorso, Group Manager, Panasonic Industrial IOT Solutions. “While our teams require a significant amount of collaborative on-site work, being able to evaluate scenarios in our brand-new Customer Experience Lab without disruption to our clients’ workflow is a huge advantage.”
