Infineon OptiMOS TDM2454xx VPD Modules for Next-Gen AI Data Center

The next generation of high-density power modules, introduced by Infineon Technologies, are essential for enabling high-performance computing and artificial intelligence. The new OptiMOS TDM2454xx quad-phase power modules give AI data center operators best-in-class power density and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) through improved system performance and Infineon’s renowned durability.Infineon OptiMOS TDM2454xx quad-phase power modules

True vertical power delivery (VPD) is made possible by the OptiMOS TDM2454xx quad-phase power modules, which also provide the best current density in the industry at 2 Ampere per mm².

The modules continue to provide greater power density for accelerated computation systems and are a follow-on to Infineon’s dual-phase power modules, the OptiMOS TDM2254xD and the OptiMOS TDM2354xD, which were released last year.

Power must move over the semiconductor wafer’s surface in conventional horizontal power delivery systems, which can lead to increased resistance and a large power loss. By minimizing the distance power must travel, vertical power delivery lowers resistive losses and improves system performance.

According to the IEA, data centers currently account for 2% of the world’s energy usage. Data centers’ power needs are predicted to increase by 165% between 2023 and 2030 due to AI. To enable additional improvements in computing performance while lowering TCO, power conversion from grid-to-core must continuously improve in efficiency and power densities.

Combining Infineon’s reliable OptiMOS 6 trench technology, chip-embedded package for enhanced electrical and thermal efficiencies, and creative low-profile magnetic design, the OptiMOS TDM2454xx modules continue to push the boundaries of VPD system performance and quality.

Furthermore, the footprint of the OptiMOS TDM2454xx is made to facilitate module tiling and promote current flow, which improve mechanical, thermal, and electrical performance. The OptiMOS TDM2454xx modules offer up to 280A over four phases with an integrated embedded capacitor layer within a tiny 10x9mm² form size.

They provide a reliable power solution with enhanced system power density when paired with Infineon’s XDP controllers.

With the widest range of products and technologies based on all pertinent semiconductor materials to power various AI server configurations from grid to core in the most energy-efficient manner, Infineon’s distinct position in the industry is being further strengthened by the OptiMOS TDM2454xx modules.Infineon OptiMOS TDM2454xx quad-phase power modules
