Omni Design PVT solution Enable Fast Deployment of 3nm Designs

The ODT-PVT-ULP-001C-3 integrates easily and seamlessly, requiring only a single core-voltage supply and a digital interface. This eliminates the need for additional supply voltage complexity while preserving precision and highly localized monitoring close to important digital subsystems.

The ODT-PVT-ULP-001C-3 is an ultra-low power temperature, voltage, and process monitor built in a 3nm CMOS process that operates in temperatures ranging from -40° to 150°C. The voltage monitor can accept four differential or single-ended inputs with a voltage range of up to ±0.75V.

A one-shot mode enables the user to perform an on-demand temperature or voltage measurement. When not in use, the entire block enters an extremely low-power standby state. The included process monitor displays information about the process variation of core PMOS and NMOS transistors, as well as I/O PMOS and NMOS devices.

Customers who create products on advanced 3nm manufacturing nodes are pushing the limits of thermal activity and dissipation. This difficulty frequently leads to the inclusion of guard bands in their designs, resulting in a worse performance-to-dollar ratio.

Using Omni’s PVT monitoring technologies dispersed throughout a 3nm product allows for improved performance and fewer guard bands, among other advantages:

  • Single core-voltage supply rail enables simple deployment and integration into complex digital or mixed-signal chips
  • Set interrupts when temperatures reach critical thresholds, enabling the system to adjust and maximize performance through Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS)
  • Monitor and mitigate longer-term silicon aging and reliability issues along with side channel security attacks
  • Collect thermal profile data for enhanced analysis and design for future products
