NETGEAR Taps R&S CMP180 for Wi-Fi 8 Breakthrough

NETGEAR has chosen the Rohde & Schwarz CMP180 radio communication tester to power the development of its next-generation Wi?Fi 8 access points. By integrating the tester into its design validation process, NETGEAR aims to accelerate product development and deliver high?performance, future-ready Wi?Fi solutions.

NETGEAR Uses R&S CMP180 to Develop Next?Gen Wi?Fi 8

Rohde & Schwarz and NETGEAR, known for its cutting-edge Wi?Fi 7 products, are now joining forces to push Wi?Fi 8 products toward market readiness.

Built on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard, Wi?Fi 8 represents the next leap forward in wireless connectivity. Designed around “ultra?high reliability” (UHR), the new standard promises faster, more stable performance even in demanding environments.

From homes and offices to industrial settings, Wi?Fi 8 will support low?latency, high?speed experiences essential for gaming, remote learning, and immersive AR/VR applications.

Developing Wi?Fi 8 access points demands advanced testing solutions that can validate new features such as distributed resource units (DRU) and unequal modulation (UEQM). The technology supports channel bandwidths up to 320 MHz across all frequency bands, 4096QAM modulation for higher data rates, and 4×4 MIMO scalability all while maintaining best?in?class performance and signal quality (EVM).

To meet these needs, Rohde & Schwarz is equipping NETGEAR’s engineering teams with the CMP180, its most advanced non?signaling wireless tester. The compact, scalable instrument supports a wide range of connectivity technologies, including Wi?Fi 6E, Wi?Fi 7, Wi?Fi 8, and 5G NR FR1, covering frequencies up to 8 GHz and bandwidths up to 500 MHz.

The CMP180 integrates two analyzers, two generators, and two sets of eight RF ports in a single unit, with the flexibility to scale by stacking multiple testers. This makes it a cost?efficient, high?performance solution that can handle everything from R&D and design validation to mass?production testing.

With its fast multi?device testing capabilities, the CMP180 streamlines workflows across every phase of product development from engineering and design validation (EVT/DVT) to production validation (PVT) and final manufacturing.

Leadership Comments

NETGEAR Uses R&S CMP180 to Develop Next?Gen Wi?Fi 8Joseph Emmanuel, VP, Consumer Business Unit HW Engineering at NETGEAR, says: “Working with Rohde & Schwarz enables us to bring our Wi-Fi 8 products on the market with the expected high quality and extremely high performance for the best multi-gigabit Wi-Fi experience everywhere at home.”

Goce Talaganov, Vice President Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, says: “We are grateful for the close collaboration with NETGEAR on the latest Wi-Fi 8 technology. Our experience in wireless device testing and early cooperation with Wi-Fi 8 chipset and device vendors helped us to improve our test solution for the upcoming broad Wi-Fi 8 market.”
