In order to support Indian manufacturing sector, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is committed to promoting innovation in rechargeable battery technology (RBT).
In order to accomplish this, MeitY has set up an R&D facility at CMET, Pune, called the “Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Rechargeable Battery Technology (Pre-cell)” (www.coerbt.in).
Under the direction of the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, an industrial meet was held to further this goal.
The center and Watthour Private Limited for sodium ions, Ampere Green Material for lithium ions, and Brandwork Technologies Pvt Ltd for lithium ions inked three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
The occasion showcased the center’s advancements in domestic production technologies for lithium ion, sodium ion, and lithium polymer. Opportunities for industrial cooperation in R&D projects were discussed at the meeting. With an emphasis on regional equipment for rechargeable battery cells, the center is dedicated to developing and expanding domestic manufacturing technologies and applications in EV, mobile, and electronics.
Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Additional Secretary, MeitY highlighted that “Entrepreneurs and large industries can play a crucial role in advancing the MeitY developed technology”
Numerous industry associations, including ELCINA, IESA, and ICEA, as well as businesses like Tata Chemicals, Munoth Industries, Exide, ATL batteries, Boat, AGCL, Ola Electric Mobility, Loom Solar, Zango, and many more, have participated in the meeting. They demonstrated a strong desire to establish beneficial alliances with the center.
