MediaTek declared that it is one of the first companies to partner with TSMC to successfully create a chip that uses the improved N2P process. MediaTek’s flagship system-on-chip (SoC) will be taping out, and volume production is anticipated to begin late next year.
This marks a new milestone in the long-standing partnership between MediaTek and TSMC, which continues to produce high-performance, power-efficient chipsets for customers in a variety of applications, including data center, automotive, computing, and flagship mobile.
N2P process is the next development in the 2nm family, which is expected to provide better performance and power efficiency. TSMC’s 2nm technology was the first to use the nanosheet transistor structure. It is anticipated that the first chipset using the novel TSMC N2P technology would be accessible in late 2026.
N2P process customers can anticipate up to 18 percent more performance at the same power, about 36 percent less power at the same speed, and a 1.2x improvement in logic density when compared to the current-generation N3E technology.
