Mahindra University in Hyderabad recently hosted the Fourth International Conference on Emerging Techniques in Computational Intelligence (ICETCI 2024), which was technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. Leading experts in computational intelligence from all around the world convened at the conference, offering a forum for cooperation, tech know-how, and information sharing.
There was a full schedule of technical paper presentations, research colloquiums, keynote speeches, and tutorials over the three-day event. A focus on cutting-edge advances in computational intelligence was placed on the opinions of experts from a variety of sectors, with an emphasis on new technologies and applications.
In his capacity as the Director of the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad, the Chief Guest, Dr. JVR Sagar, presented a number of cutting-edge subjects related to computational intelligence and its uses in the fields of agriculture, smart grids, defense, and predictive maintenance.
The guest of honor was Christina Abraham, Head of Digital for Corporate and Analytics at Airbus India. During her speech, she emphasized the significance of scalable and high-quality data for artificial intelligence, as well as the actions that Airbus has made to solve these issues.
Dr. Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor of Mahindra University said, “The three-day technical event had a power-packed schedule with speakers from several countries such as the United States, Japan, Singapore and China.”
According to Dr. Arya Kumar Bhattacharya, Dean of Research, Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, “The conference was highly successful with 450+ paper submission out of which only around 100 papers were chosen for presentation.”
Tutorial sessions covering everything from 6G wireless communication systems to the fascinating topic of “Bridging Language in Machines and Language in the Brain” kicked off the conference.
Dr. John Ashley, Director of the NVIDIA AI Technology Centers; Prof. Kalyanmoy Deb, Chair Professor at Michigan State University, USA; Prof. Akira Hirose, University of Tokyo, Japan; Prof. Jun Wang, City University of Hong Kong; and Dr. Vig, Distinguished Chief Scientist, Tata Consultancy Services, India, were among the eminent speakers who gave keynote lectures over the course of the following days.
Among many other topics, these talks gave guests significant insights into quaternion neural networks, huge language models, evolutionary computation, and sovereign AI.
ICETCI 2024 also saw the presentation of numerous technical papers from around 105 institutes, including premier institutes like IITs, NITs, IIITs, DRDL, ISRO, Bosch and various other industries.
These papers showcased latest research in areas such as cybersecurity, healthcare, and smart computing. The event concluded with a valedictory lecture, which was delivered by Prof. Atul Negi, Dean of the School of CIS at the University of Hyderabad. One of the highlights of the conference was a captivating cultural performance by Padmashri Dr. Anand Shankar Jayant and her team, on the second evening.
