indie Semiconductor has been chosen by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) to deliver one of India’s most advanced driver and occupant monitoring systems (DOMS) for the automaker’s upcoming Electric Origin SUV lineup, the XEV 9e and BE 6.
Through this collaboration, Mahindra will integrate indie’s CABIN EYE® perception software, developed by the recently acquired emotion3D, with EyeDentity, Mahindra’s proprietary camera-based DOMS hardware platform.
Mahindra, a leader in automotive safety innovation, recently earned the highest-ever Bharat NCAP 5-star safety ratings for its XEV 9e and BE 6 eSUVs.
With this new partnership, Mahindra is pushing beyond existing Indian safety regulations and Bharat-NCAP protocols by introducing AI-powered in-cabin safety and perception technology designed to monitor driver attention and occupant status in real time.
The collaboration underlines Mahindra’s commitment to next-generation vehicle intelligence and in-cabin safety, aligning with global trends toward smarter, safer, and more connected electric mobility.
Mahindra’s Software-Defined Platform Enables Continuous Upgrades to Advanced Driver Monitoring Features
Mahindra’s next-generation software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform is equipped with over-the-air (OTA) update capabilities, ensuring its vehicles remain up to date with the latest driver and occupant monitoring system (DOMS) safety and comfort features from indie Semiconductor.
As automotive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) continue to evolve, modern vehicles now require intelligent systems capable of detecting driver fatigue, distraction, responsiveness, as well as occupant presence and positioning.
These functions demand exceptional accuracy, low latency, and efficient embedded processing to achieve reliable real-world performance.
indie’s CABIN EYE® perception software has been designed to meet these rigorous requirements. Its advanced algorithms maintain high performance across a wide range of conditions while reducing the need for per-vehicle optimization.
This flexibility is made possible through its robust tolerance to camera placement, sensor configurations, and diverse DOMS applications, enabling scalable deployment across Mahindra’s model lineup.
Leadership Comments
“This successful partnership with Mahindra immediately demonstrates the momentum of indie’s recent acquisition of emotion3D, building on a shared purpose of achieving new breakthroughs in-cabin safety,” said Florian Seitner, VP & GM Perception Software at indie. “Our mission has always been to deliver intelligent software solutions that improve road safety and elevate the driving experience. With Mahindra’s visionary approach to electric vehicles and indie’s cutting-edge technology, we are setting new standards for in-cabin monitoring systems across the automotive industry.”
Mahindra’s DOMS capability is already in active use on the road across multiple Mahindra electric origin SUVs.
