Recently, Lam Research Corp. declared its intention to include India to its worldwide supply chain for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Lam Research is evaluating its capabilities in different supply chain segments and is looking into working with suppliers in India to meet its needs for high purity gas delivery systems, custom parts, precision components, and other assemblies that go into state-of-the-art semiconductor wafer fabrication machinery.
Experts predict that the global semiconductor market will generate $1 trillion in sales annually by the end of this decade. To meet present and future demand, Lam is still committed to building a robust, resilient, and internationally diversified supply chain. With this announcement, Lam Research is continuing its strategic regional growth initiatives aimed at building a more robust semiconductor manufacturing supply chain.
There is a growing need for cooperation and international involvement of knowledge, intellectual property, resources, and people as the demand for semiconductors rises especially for the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain.
Lam’s “close to customer” approach fosters cooperation with thousands of suppliers worldwide. This reduces supply bottlenecks and strengthens resistance to problems with the supply chain that are unique to a certain area. Lam research has been in business in India for almost 20 years focusing on semiconductor equipment, taking advantage of its strategic position near Asian consumers.
“We at Lam Research think that cooperative supply chain partnerships are essential to promoting creativity and providing the greatest service for our clients,” stated Karthik Rammohan, group vice president and head of worldwide operations. “Our new proactive initiative to drive supply chain growth in India, leveraging the infrastructure and talent of our India Center of Engineering, has the potential to contribute to improved performance, sustainability, and enhanced capabilities for our customers in the region and throughout Asia.”
“We are proud to be expanding our supply chain in India,” said Rangesh Raghavan, corporate vice president and general manager at Lam Research India. “By enhancing Lam’s strong global supply infrastructure with capabilities from local suppliers, integrators and other strategic providers, we look to enhance the flexibility of our supply chain, while further supporting the semiconductor ecosystem in India, where Lam has been a proud leader for more than two decades.”
Lam invites potential suppliers to visit its booth at the SEMICON India 2024 tradeshow, which will take place in Noida from September 11 to 13, 2024.
Additionally, interested suppliers are encouraged to register for the exclusive supply chain symposium on Lam Research’s website, https://www.lamresearch.com/india-supply-chain-symposium/
