Kaynes Semicon Pending Semiconductor Unit Gets Govt. Approval

A new semiconductor unit is approved by the Cabinet as part of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) marking a steady progress in the creation of India’s semiconductor industry. According to its official press release, Indian Prime Minister chaired to give a nod to the new semiconductor unit to further create a thriving semiconductor ecosystem. To venture, Keynes Semicon will be investing Rs 3,300 crore to set up the suggested unit.

The company claims to produce 60 lakh chips in a day in this new state-of-the-art facility.

Numerous market categories, including industrial, automotive, electric vehicle, consumer electronics, telecom, mobile phone, and others, will be served by the chips produced in this unit.

With a total expenditure of Rs. 76,000 crore, the Programme for Development of Semiconductors and Display Manufacturing Ecosystem in India was announced on December 21, 2021. The Union Cabinet gave its approval to the initial plan in June 2023 to establish a semiconductor plant in Sanand, Gujarat.

Other Recent Approved Semincodcutor Plants 

Three further semiconductor units were approved in February of 2024. Tata Electronics is constructing a semiconductor plant in Morigaon, Assam, and a semiconductor factory in Dholera, Gujarat.

In Sanand, Gujarat, CG Power is establishing a single semiconductor facility. All four semiconductor plants are rapidly approaching completion, and a strong semiconductor ecosystem is developing around them.

The investment for these 4 units is about Rs 1.5 lakh crore. These plants have a daily capacity of roughly 7 crore chips.
