Microchip Achieves JANSF 300 Krad Capability, Completes Rad Hard Power MOSFET Family

Now, Microchip Technology reports that it has completed its radiation-hardened (rad-hard) power MOSFET family to the MIL-PRF-19500/746 slash-sheet specification and that its JANSF2N8587U3 100V N-channel MOSFET has achieved JANSF qualification to 300 Krad (Si) Total Ionizing Dose (TID).Microchip complete JANSF2N8587U3 100V N-channel MOSFET the volt post

The JANS family of rad-hard power devices from Microchip comes in voltage ranges of 100–250V to 100 Krad (Si) TID. The JANSF2N7587U3 at 300 Krad (Si) TID is the first in the family to grow to higher Radiation Hardness Assurance (RHA) levels.

A cost-effective power device for New Space and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) applications, the JANS RH MOSFET die comes in a variety of packaging configurations, including a plastic package employing the MIL-qualified JANSR die. The ceramic package is designed for Single-Event-Environments (SEE) and complete dosage, and it is hermetically sealed.

The devices are great choices for applications that require high-reliability components that can endure the extreme environments of space and extend the reliability of power circuitry since they are made to fulfill the MIL-PRF19500/746 standard with improved performance.

In power conversion circuits, such as point-of-load converters, DC-DC converters, motor drives and controllers, and general-purpose switching, the JANSF and JANSR RH power MOSFETs are the main switching components.

When compared to comparable products on the market, these power MOSFETs provide better energy efficiency, less heat generation, and higher switching performance due to their low RDS(ON) and low total gate charge.

Radiation-Tolerant (RT) and Radiation-Hardened (RH) MCUs, FPGAs and Ethernet PHYs, power devices, RF products, timing solutions, and discrete components ranging from bare die to system modules are just a few of the high-reliability solutions Microchip provides for the aerospace and defense industries.

To further serve its customers, Microchip also provides a large selection of components on the QPL.

The highest screening and acceptance standards are represented by the JANS qualification, which guarantees the exceptional performance, dependability, and quality of discrete semiconductors for use in spaceflight, aerospace, and defense applications.
