The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin and Hon’ble Minister for Industries Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa.

The TN-100 Chip Varsity Project marks a milestone in Tamil Nadu’s journey to become a strong player in India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. The program will establish a statewide network of chip design centers in engineering colleges, giving students access to live design projects, industry-standard tools, and mentorship from experienced professionals.

Over the next five years, the initiative aims to train 5,000 young engineers in chip design, packaging, testing, and power electronics. By exposing students to real-world design environments and industry collaboration, the project seeks to create a generation of engineers capable of contributing directly to India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing goals.

Sharing his thoughts on the collaboration, an iVP Semiconductor spokesperson said, “India’s semiconductor growth depends not only on building fabs and packaging facilities but also on nurturing the minds that conceptualize and design the chips. The TN-100 Chip Varsity Project is a step toward making that vision a reality. We are proud to work with the Government of Tamil Nadu to create an ecosystem where India does not just consume semiconductors—it creates them.”

Industry observers see the TN-100 initiative as a strategic leap toward establishing Tamil Nadu as a national hub for semiconductor education and innovation. By combining academic resources, government support, and industry expertise, the state intends to create a long-term pipeline of skilled professionals ready for both local and global technology enterprises.
