InnoPhase IoT Matter v1.2 Platform Mingle STM32U5 For Smart Homes

An ST Authorized Partner, InnoPhase IoT, has announced the release of the Matter v1.2 platform, which combines the STM32U5 with its Talaria TWO Wi-Fi solution. Ultra-low power sensor-to-cloud Internet of Things solutions were made possible by the previously announced integration of STM32U5 and Talaria TWO.InnoPhase IoT Matter v1.2 Platform with STM32U5 the volt post

Now, introducing Matter v1.2 compatibility offers smart-home devices with interoperability across many ecosystems, simplifying easy setup and operation and eventually promoting a greater selection of home automation device solutions for the user.

The combined solution was demonstrated at ST Wireless Technology Tour on August 22, in Santa Clara, CA.

According to reports, the STM32U5 MCU 32-bit microcontroller can handle the demanding power/performance needs of today. The MCU combines a 160MHz Cortex-M33 core with up to 4MB of flash memory and 2.5MB of SRAM to enable the best performance possible for ultra-low power 32-bit MCUs. Proprietary features allow for a 90% power reduction, which also prolongs battery life.

The Talaria TWO SoC handles cloud connectivity and Matter protocol processing, which are offloaded from InnoPhase IoT’s Matter over Wi-Fi stack.

As a result, the MCU has more memory and processing capability that developers can use for applications. The whole SDK features a scalable architecture and a HAPI interface for seamless integration between Talaria TWO and STM32 MCUs.

Included are reference apps for quick prototyping and development that support Microsoft Azure, Amazon’s AWS, and Matter v1.2 platforms. By avoiding the need for a bridge border router and offering a direct connection to the cloud or internet, a Matter over low-power Wi-Fi solution streamlines network architecture and saves money.

The Talaria TWO Wi-Fi/BLE modules have achieved worldwide regulatory certification and are certified by the Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi Alliance. Now supported by Matter v1.2, the Talaria TWO INP3014 Evaluation Kit easily interfaces with development boards from the STM32U5 series. “The smart home remains a very fragmented landscape and Matter is a critical industry effort to unlock more value. Parks Associates research shows 54 million internet households in the US have at least one smart home device and consumers now have an average of 17 connected devices in their home,” said Jennifer Kent, VP Research, at IoT Research firm Parks Associates. “Product developers seek power-efficient Wi-Fi solutions that can help get their next-generation Matter-enabled solutions to market quickly.”

“Building on our ultra-low power Wi-Fi foundation, InnoPhase IoT is committed to delivering an exceptional IoT user experience. Providing platforms with Matter v1.2 certification is a key element of this multifaceted approach. It guarantees interoperability across different vendor ecosystems, key for smart home consumers,” said Wiren Perera, InnoPhase IoT President and COO. “Our collaboration with ST has spanned many years and now multiple processors. We are proud of our role in integrating ST’s lowest power MCU, the STM32U5, with our ultra-low-power Wi-Fi/BLE Matter v1.2 device solutions that enable rapid time-to-development for smart-home applications such as environmental monitoring, appliances, white goods, and advanced human-machine interface (HMI),” Perera added.InnoPhase IoT Matter v1.2 Platform with STM32U5
