Infineon Technologies and Subaru are teaming up to make future Subaru vehicles safer, more confident rides for drivers. Infineon’s providing the brains for Subaru’s next-gen integrated electronic control unit (ECU), which handles advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and vehicle motion control.

The Japanese transportation conglomerate is tapping Infineon AURIX microcontroller (MCU) specifically the TC4x series to supercharge this ECU’s real-time performance over past versions. It crunches vehicle and sensor data faster and more reliably.
The TC4x acts as the main controller for next-level ADAS features, fusing inputs from cameras, radar, and other sensors to make split-second decisions and controls. With up to six 500 MHz cores running in lockstep and ASIL-D functional safety, it’s built for the toughest demands.
The two companies already worked together on Subaru’s current ADAS lineup, and they’re doubling down on in-vehicle computing and networking to push safer, more secure mobility forward.
Infineon hit #1 globally in microcontrollers a year ago (and topped automotive MCUs back in 2023).
They’ve kept that lead by prepping tech for automakers’ future needs like championing RISC-V as the open standard for vehicle MCUs and snapping up Marvell’s automotive Ethernet business in August 2025. That gives them the industry’s fullest toolkit for centralized computing in software-defined vehicles.
Leadership Comments
“As advanced driver assistance systems become more sophisticated, reliable real-time operation across the entire system is key,” said Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Automotive at Infineon. “With our market leading microcontroller family AURIX, we support Subaru in building the foundation needed to deliver dependable decision-making and control across the vehicle.”
“Subaru is working on the development of an integrated electronic control unit that coordinates next-generation EyeSight and vehicle motion control for future Subaru vehicles,” said Eiji Shibata, Executive Officer and Chief Digital Car Officer, Subaru Corporation. “Infineon’s AURIX MCU is a core technology that will support robust sensor data fusion and real?time control within this integrated ECU, and is a key element enabling the evolution of next?generation ADAS and vehicle motion control. We have built a strong relationship of trust with Infineon over many years and have collaborated from the early stages of development to optimize the design of the AURIX. We value this trusted partnership and look forward to Infineon’s next?generation MCU.”
