In order to promote Stellantis’ goal of providing everyone with clean, safe, and affordable mobility, the company and Infineon Technologies announced that they will collaborate on the power architecture for Stellantis’ electric vehicles.

In order to facilitate this, the companies have inked significant supply and capacity agreements, which will form the basis of the anticipated partnership to create the next generation of power architecture.

These agreements include:

  • By replacing conventional fuses with Infineon’s PROFET smart power switches, Stellantis will be able to cut down on wiring and be among the first automakers to adopt intelligent power network management.
  • In addition to helping Stellantis standardize its power modules, silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors will save prices while enhancing EV performance and efficiency.
  • The first generation of the STLA Brain zonal architecture is the focus of AURIX microcontrollers.

Key Takeaways From The New Mobility-Front Collaboration:

  • The goal of the partnership is to greatly improve vehicle range, cost, energy economy, and driver’s experience.
  • Companies made supply and capacity commitments for silicon carbide (SiC) CoolSiC semiconductors and PROFET power switches.
  • The market need for automotive semiconductor solutions may be met by Infineon’s scalable production capability.

In addition, Stellantis and Infineon are expanding their collaboration by establishing a Joint Power Lab to specify the next-generation intelligent and scalable power architecture that will support Stellantis’ software-defined vehicle.

The Upcoming 300-Millimeter “Smart Power Fab”

With its most cost-competitive SiC fab in the world, situated in Kulim, Malaysia; the forthcoming 300-millimeter “Smart Power Fab” in Dresden, Germany; the joint venture with TSMC and partners (ESMC); and associated supply agreements with foundry partners, Infineon is ready to fully meet market demand for automotive semiconductor solutions. According to market research firm TechInsights, Infineon is the leading supplier of automotive microcontrollers, holding a market share of approximately 29% of the global automotive microcontroller sector.Infineon PROFET SiC CoolSiC Tech for Stellantis Mobility
