Infineon’s New Dual-Phase Power Modules For AI Data Centers

For high-performance AI data centers, Infineon Technologies introduces the TDM2354xD and TDM2354xT dual-phase power modules, which offer the best power density in their class. These modules provide the best current density in the industry (1.6 A/mm2) and allow genuine vertical power delivery (VPD).Infineon New Dual-Phase Power Modules for AI Data Centers

The TDM2354xD and TDM2354xT Dual-Phase Power Modules combine new inductor technology to enable lower profile and thus true vertical power delivery, with Infineon’s reliable OptiMOS 6 trench technology and a chip-embedded package that enables superior power density through enhanced electrical and thermal efficiencies.

Consequently, the modules maximize the computation performance and efficiency of AI data centers by setting new benchmarks in power density and quality. The TDM2354xT modules are the first Trans-Inductor Voltage Regulator (TLVR) modules in the industry with a compact 8 x 8 mm² form factor, and they support up to 160 A.

When used in conjunction with Infineon’s XDP controllers, they provide incredibly quick transient response and can reduce on-board output capacitance by up to 50%, which boosts system power density even more.

They follow the TDM2254xD dual-phase power modules introduced by Infineon earlier this year.

AI Data Centers To Consume India’s Current Energy Consumption

Presently, data centers account for about two percent of the world’s energy usage. AI-driven growth is predicted to propel this percentage to almost seven percent by 2030, when it will equate to India’s current energy consumption. In order to achieve higher power densities and improve compute performance while lowering total cost of ownership (TCO), it is imperative to enable effective power conversion from grid-to-core.

Key Comments

“We are proud to enable high-performance AI data centers with our TDM2354xT and TDM2354xD VPD modules. These devices will maximize system performance with Infineon’s trademark quality and robustness, thereby enabling best TCO for data centers,” said Rakesh Renganathan, Vice President Power ICs at Infineon Technologies. “Our industry-leading power devices and packaging technologies, combined with our extensive systems expertise, will further advance high-performance and green computing as part of our mission to drive digitalization and decarbonization.”
