Infineon Technologies strengthens its dominant positions in the automotive semiconductors market on a global and regional scale, particularly in microcontrollers. Infineon attained a market share of 13.5% in the worldwide automotive semiconductor industry in 2024, as per the most recent market data from TechInsights.
With a 14.1 percent market share, the corporation rose from second place in 2023 to the top spot in Europe. Additionally, Infineon bolstered its position in North America, moving up from third place to the second-largest market player with a 10.4 percent share.
The worldwide market share for microcontrollers increased once more to 32.0 percent, giving it a 2.7 percentage point advantage over the competitor in second position.
Additionally, with a 13.9 percent market share in China, the largest market for automotive semiconductors, and a 17.7 percent market share in South Korea, Infineon continued to hold its top spots.
With a 13.2 percent share, the corporation solidified its second-place position in Japan. The overall value of the worldwide automotive semiconductor market in 2024 was US$68.4 billion, a 1.2% decrease from US$69.2 billion in 2023.
In order to make vehicles cleaner, safer, and smarter, Infineon’s semiconductors are crucial to the digitalization and decarbonization process. They support all of the main automobile applications, including infotainment and comfort features, engine and battery management, and driver assistance and safety systems.
As the foundation for software-defined vehicles, a primary goal is to facilitate the development of electrical/electronic (E/E) vehicle architectures toward more centralized zonal designs. This calls for real-time processing power, intelligent power distribution, and cutting-edge networking and data security.
Leadership Comments
“We are the global number one in automotive semiconductors for the fifth consecutive year and we are equally successful across the world. For the first time in our history, Infineon is among the top two automotive semiconductor companies in every region,” said Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Automotive at Infineon. “This global success is a token of our strong product portfolio, outstanding customer support and our dedication to the specific needs of our customers.”
“It is the fifth time in a row that the ‘TechInsights Automotive Semiconductor Vendor Market Share Ranking’ confirms the Infineon lead, with microcontrollers largely contributing to this success,” said Asif Anwar, Executive Director of Automotive End Market Research at TechInsights. “Semiconductors for advanced driver assistance systems, especially SoCs and memories, were among the best performing product categories. Infineon did exceptionally well in microcontrollers used in advanced driver assistance systems and many other applications. With an increase of 3.6 percentage points to a 32.0 percent market share, Infineon has held up well in the automotive microcontroller market, which decreased by 8.2 percent year-over-year.”
