ZEISS India, IISc To Create High-Fidelity AI Ophthalmology Facility

In order to promote innovative research, ZEISS in India launched a strategic partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). With the goal of creating high-fidelity artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to improve eye care and upskill students in AI technologies especially in ophthalmology, ZEISS has built a state-of-the-art research facility.AI tech in ophthalmology Centre by IISc and ZEISS India the olt post

The project, which is backed by the Spectrum Lab in the IISc Department of Electrical Engineering, intends to use AI’s revolutionary potential to improve patient outcomes and eye care procedures.

With the prevalence of vision impairments on the rise globally, this partnership will advance India’s eye care products for the global market.

The facility will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research, enabling Indian Institute of Science researchers to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) might revolutionize early diagnosis in eye care by offering creative solutions that enhance patient outcomes, expedite procedures, and boost accuracy.

Indian Institute of Science and ZEISS India have partnered to investigate and advance the application of cutting-edge AI technology in ophthalmology.

Additionally, through its CSR-sponsored ‘MTech Fellowship Program’ at IISc, ZEISS India is sponsoring 6 MTech students for the next 3 years. These students are pursuing master’s degrees in Computer Science & Engineering/Computational and Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Signal Processing.

ZEISS hopes to establish a solid partnership with IISc that will act as a catalyst for the advancement of AI in eye care.

Through public demos, exhibitions, and patient testimonies, the endeavor can demystify AI technologies and foster trust among patients and the general public. The attractiveness and applicability of AI-driven eye care solutions in a variety of healthcare contexts are further supported by highlighting their affordability and accessibility.
