Honeywell, LS Electric to Accelerate Innovation For Data Centers

In order to enhance operational efficiency and resilience, Honeywell and LS Electric established a global strategic partnership to jointly develop and commercialize hardware and software solutions that make power management and distribution easier for data centers and other building operators.

Data center operators will be able to easily integrate vital power distribution with more general building management tasks, like making sure load is in line with capacity, to increase resilience by fusing Honeywell’s leadership in building automation and controls with LS Electric’s extensive knowledge of power systems.

In order to enable data center operators control and distribute the power that keeps vital systems operating without interruption, the two businesses will first market combined products that include integrated switchgear and power management.

The collaboration aims to create new electrical power monitoring systems utilizing LS ELECTRIC’s software skills and experience, as well as Honeywell Forge, a platform with AI features.

In order to minimize power quality problems and expensive downtime, the resulting systems are being built to intelligently control energy distribution and consumption.

They also make use of AI-driven predictive maintenance to assist spot possible problems early.

The companies will work together to develop a new grid and building-aware battery energy storage system (BESS) for commercial and industrial buildings in addition to integrating power management and controls.

The end-to-end solution will install microgrids in vital buildings and industrial facilities to assist regulate demand and increase resilience in response to the growing strain on the grid.

In order to help predict the optimum source and cost based on utility data, weather, and other risks, this new modular BESS solution intends to connect Honeywell’s dynamic energy control software with LS Electric’s energy storage capabilities.

Data centers currently consume 1-2% of global electricity production, and that is expected to grow dramatically. With this partnership, Honeywell will be a one-stop supplier for building automation controls and power and electrical products, allowing data centers to be more efficient with energy use and storage.
