In order to meet its objective of lowering absolute emissions in its operations, Henkel India has teamed up with CleanMax. Through this agreement, the company’s Kurkumbh and Thane production sites will be able to save an additional 4500 tonnes of CO2 annually, which is a big step towards increasing solar power consumption. This is the same as planting roughly 300,000 trees a year.
The duo have finalized a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Single User Group Captive Solar Power. The captive power project is being installed in a Maharashtra solar farm that CleanMax will own and run. The foundation of the collaboration between the organizations is a shared dedication to sustainable energy use.
The glue division of Henkel India already shows a strong dedication to sustainability. The company uses only carbon neutral production practices in Chennai, but it has also switched to using green electrical energy in its manufacturing procedures in Rudrapur. This new PPA will support Henkel’s sustainability agenda by increasing the use of solar power at its manufacturing facilities in Thane and Kurkumbh.
Henkel has set itself aggressive timetables and absolute reduction targets to be met by 2030, and its main focus for mitigating climate change is on its own production processes. It is committed to using energy from renewable sources and continuously enhancing its energy efficiency in order to achieve this. The business will also, in accordance with the Science-based goals program, establish a Net-Zero pathway for its Scope 3 emissions.
