Highlights from the report by Frost & Sullivan on India’s EV market:

  • By the end of 2024, over 123,000 battery-electric vehicles (passenger cars) are expected to be sold in India, representing a projected y-o-y rise of 47.9% in comparison to the approximately 83,000 units sold in 2023.
  • With a market share of over 64%, Tata Motors is in the lead; in 2023, the Tata Nexon EV was the best-selling EV.
  • Nearly half of all EV sales in India originate from South India, which leads the country in this regard.
  • Tamil Nadu’s increasing number of OEMs, component suppliers, and battery/cell manufacturing enterprises positions the State as a key driver of the expansion of EV sales and the country’s center for EV R&D.

With Citroën being the title partner of India EV 2024, Shishir Mishra, Brand Director of Citroen India delivered a keynote address, sharing his views on building a conducive EV ecosystem in India.
